| It's probably either way, like Sean and Shawn.

| I've seen it spelt something like SIOHBAN I don't think
that entirely correct, but it's real close. There's a note in
the file with that spelling also. I don't know the note #

319.7 | More on Siobhan | ATLAST::ANDERSON | Give me a U, give me a T... | Mon Feb 13 1989 21:25 | 25 |
| My dictionary (Dunkling and Gosling) lists "Siobhan" as the
correct -- i.e., Gaelic -- spelling. It also, however,
lists some of the following variants:
Shavon
Shavone
Shavonne
Shevon
Shivohn
Shevonne
Chavon
Chavonne
Chevon
Chevonne
Chivone
Like all Irish names (Sean/Shawn was a good example), it's a
losing battle trying to keep the original spelling. When it
comes to names, spelling usually follows pronunciation. My
dictionary lists Shavon and Shavonne as the variants that
will most likely become standard.
BTW, it's Irish for Joan.

| My brother and his wife just named their little girl Devon Siobhan.
Very different! I liked their original choice Nicolette!
