| Not personally.
Kids might nickname her something like... Your acne.
Just my opinion.

| I like different names, but I don't like that one at all.
Again, that is one person's opinion.

| I don't like the name, either. If you didn't write
> Arachne pronounced ( A-rack-nee )
I wouldn't have had any idea how to pronounce it. I wouldn't want
a name that no one could read. Imagine all the bunglings she would
have to suffer through, not to mention the tedious chore of having
to correct everyone.
(Just my .02 worth)

the near future. And you know what I'm going to name my first girl.

it.

316.9 | Arachne (spider) goddess | HYEND::JRHODES | | Mon Nov 21 1988 11:18 | 8 |
| FYI - For anybody who doesn't know Greek Mythology-
There was a goddess by the name of Arachne - ... something about
"trapping" someone in her web THEREFORE, Arachnid is the latin
for spider.....
I don't care for Arachne (I guess I associate it with the story)
but if you are into Greek mythology why not Athena? I do like your
mother's Irish suggestion though...

316.10 | Greek "A" Name Alternatives | CLOVAX::HORTON | | Tue Nov 22 1988 08:56 | 8 |
| I think Arachne is neat, but that "k" sound is a little harsh when I
say it out loud to myself.
How about another Greek name like "Ariadne"? I also like Athena and
Artemus.
Ofcourse, if you opt for an Irish name, allow me to recommend
"Maureen".

316.13 | Arianna/Alithea/Adrianna | PARITY::STACIE | Cult of Personality | Wed Jan 04 1989 08:24 | 10 |
| I knew two little girls by the names Arianna & Alithea (A-lee'-the-a).
They were they most adorable little girls, both with long blonde
hair, just like you'd picture little angels. I'd never thought
of those names until I met them, now I love both.
A friend of mine named her new daughter Adrianna. I like that,
too, but I like Adrian best for a boy.
