313.0. "BOY'S NAME DISPUTE!!" by GRECO::MOREAU () Fri Oct 21 1988 12:26

    I am expecting a baby in mid-February. My husband and I have chosen
    names but disagree on the boy's name. If it is a girl, her name
    will be:

    Jillian Marie

    if it is a boy, my husband wants the name Carl (my name is Carol!)
    and I want the name Kevin (Michael will be his middle name).

    Which do you think sounds better:

    Carl Michael Rosinski ...or

    Kevin Michael Rosinski.

    I think Carl is to much alike to my name (Carol). If I decide to
    give in to that name, I want to spell it with a K.

    Karl Michael Rosinski

    Any input appreciated!

    Personally, I like Kevin. In New England it seems like most people
    tend to pronounce Carl like Cal (I'm from the midwest where they
    don't leave out r's!!!)
313.2I vote for KevinBITS1::HAGENTue Nov 08 1988 11:464
I, too, vote for Kevin. I wanted to name our son that, buy my husband
didn't like it either. Carl isn't a bad second choice, but I don't
like Karl - it reminds me of Karl Marx, the founder of Communism.
313.3Kevin, of courseCEADSS::KORDOSKYFri Nov 11 1988 07:096
    I vote for Kevin also, I don't like the name Carl (even spelled
    with a K ). My son is named Kevin Paul, and we're expecting our
    second in April. He (if a boy) will be Michael Lee.

    ditto for Kevin...

re: back a few: You shouldn't lump all of New England together for
    folks not pronouncing their 'r's... the only place I've run into
    that is here in the Southern NH-MA area.

    	-- Kristy (from Northern Vermont where they pronounce their
    'r's.)
313.6Still trying to persuade him!AKOV12::FITETue Nov 22 1988 09:367
    Thanks for all the replies. I may print this whole file to show
    my husband. He still likes Carl though. I think I may be able
    to persuade him in the LABOR ROOM! I know that's sneaky, but what
    choice do I have. I also thought, what if this kid doesn't look
    like a Kevin (or a Carl), then we go for Neil!

    THERE'S NO BETTER CHRISTMAS GIFT IN THE WORLD THAN A BEAUTIFUL CHILD
    TO CALL YOUR OWN. To hold to cuddle and make funny faces at,to buy
    clothes for to feed to change their messy bottoms and listen to
    the beautiful of a crying baby. Believe me there's nothing in the
    world like. So may your life be filled with the joy of having a
    child of your own and for those who do you know what I mean.
