| What about Ashley Elizabeth?? For a name that would sound nice
with Sanborn.

| That sounds nice, and I like Ashley. My only reservations are lack
of a good nickname ("Ash?"), and that it seems to be an very popular
name these days.

| You could always use Lee for a nickname name instead of Ash. Or
what about Elizabeth Ashley. That way there are a few more nicknames.
Like Liz or Beth or Betty.

| Dear Dave,
How about Alicia or Louisa or Barbara, I think one of those
three would sound very strong with the last name Sanborn, Espally
Barbara.
Good Luck,

265.9 | Ariadne/Kathleen/What is a nickname? | UTROP1::WIJDEVEN_M | | Thu Aug 04 1988 11:45 | 22 |
| How about Ariadne or Kathleen?
I am not familiar with what you call "nicknames".
Is that a short way you call a baby every day. Like Katherine and
you call her Kathy or like myself: My official name is Martina
but my parents call me Marianne. Only by weddings and that kind
of official occasions I will be called Martina. But nobody knows
me by that name. Is that a nickname?
Or do you mean that people shorten a name easily from Ashley to
Ash?
Please let me know because I saw that they use the word "nickname"
a lot in these babynames-notes!
Let us know your decision.
Regards,
Marianne (Holland)

265.10 | Nick is a nickname | EDUHCI::WARREN | | Thu Aug 04 1988 11:55 | 13 |
| You've got the idea. A nickname can be an abbreviated form of
your first name (like Kathy for Katherine or Bob for Robert) or
sometimes it's an unrelated name that you use informally (Stretch
or Red or Sis). Sometimes a nickname is actually longer than your
given name. An example would be someone named Ann who is usually
called Annie.
Basically, it's what your friends usually call you, if it differs
from your official name.

Thanks again,
