| "Randy" used to come home from school all flustered because
the other kids would call him "Girld" instead.

SORRY, I DONT KNOW WHAT IT MEANS, BUT BOYD IS QUITE A COMMON
FAMILY NAME. ONE OF MY SCHOOL FRIENDS HAD IT AS A FAMILY NAME
AND HER FATHER WAS FROM NORTHERN IRELAND, AND THINK THAT IS WHERE
IT CAME FROM.
IT SEEMS TO BE "WITH IT" TO HAVE A FAMILY NAME AS A FIRST NAME
i.e. IF A MOTHER WAS KELLY OR JOYCE SHE MAY CALL HER FIRST DAUGHER
KELLY
ALLAN
JOYCE
DALY (DALEY)

I believe that 'Boyd' comes from the Gaelic word that means Blond
and would be used to describe someone with blond hair in a family
of dark haired children.
I would therefore think it quite likley that it did come from Scotland
or Ireland as many of the names there were derived from the Gaelic.

Richard (Inverness - Scotland)

258.4 | Boyd's a blonde | PLEXUS::V5REGISTRAR | | Wed Jul 13 1988 14:56 | 7 |
| Funny, my brother Boyd is an all-natural platinum blonde. My mother's
hair is brown, mine and my dad's is medium blonde, but this kid's
hair is the color of Marilyn Monroe's!!
By the way, his eyes are brown. Unusual, huh?
