245.0. "Girl's name needed for Vogel" by POBOX::VOGEL () Thu Jun 16 1988 15:24

My wife and I are expecting our second child in two weeks. We have decided
on Michael David if it's a boy but are having problems coming up with a girls
name. Our daughter is named Kathryn Dorothea after my grandmother and my wife's
mother. We appreciate any suggestions offered.

Thanks,
Dave

    It sounds like you like "classic" names (Kathryn, Michael). How
    about Elizabeth? I've always thought it was a pretty name and it
    goes well with Kathryn.

    P.S. Are you the same Dave Vogel that used to work at DG?

    Do we know each other??

    You picked some great names! I had to look twice to see if I had
    posted that reply myself.

    It's odd to see that someone I don't even know posting the exact
    names/type of names that I would name my own child. They aren't
    even really "run of the mill!" I guess people have more in common
    than we think!

    Made a little mistake, there. in my last reply (245.6) I meant

    It's a girl !
    On the 5th of July we had a healthy beautiful little girl. We finally
    decided on Sarah Elizabeth and so far she hasn't complained. With
    Sarah being a somewhat popular name, I envision a teacher in 5 or
    6 years calling on "Sarah" and 12 girls answer.

    Thanks to all of you who reponded.

245.9The meaning of VogelUTROP1::WIJDEVEN_MWed Aug 03 1988 07:406
    I see I'm to late. But I guess you already knew "Vogel" is a Dutch
    name. It means "Bird". It can also be German, but it has the same
    meaning. Anyhow my recommendation was to take a German or Dutch
    name. But I really like the names you chose.

    Regards,
245.10A little late, but...WR2FOR::VOGELSANG_JUThu Nov 23 1989 08:3111
    I guess I am REALLY too late for this one, but I just thought I'd
    add something just in case someone comes across it later.

    My name is Julie Anneliese Vogelsang. My mother is from Germany
    and my father is from Holland (which would be Dutch), but he is
    also part German. So the name "Vogel" does mean bird, and therefore
    my last name mean Birdsong. Anneliese is a German name, which is
    also my mother's name. My father is Benjamin and my brother and
    sister are Eric Benjamin, and Monika Susanne'.
