I vote Melissa or Melyssa.... People call me 'Mel' for short...
I don't really like it, but 'Mal' is MUCH worse... I remember being
teased in school with that one.

204.4 | Definately Malyssa!! | BOSHOG::PROVASOLI | | Fri Apr 15 1988 11:50 | 3 |
| I vote for Malyssa, I think it's pretty. I like unique names, or
average names with unique spellings. I think Melissa is to plain
and ordinary.

| Re .4, While the name Melissa has recently come into very common
usage, I still think it looks beautiful written and sounds very
pleasing to the ear. I also prefer uncommon names, but the name
Melissa will never seem "plain and ordinary" to me.

| HI! My name's Melissa and I've always loved my name (even if I do
say so myself). I think that Melyssa looks a little odd and I agree
that Malissa would be nicknamed "Mal" Ugh!
Anyway, I hope you do call her Melissa. It is supposed to mean "bee"
or "sweet honey".

| Our baby is due in February, we have decided that if it is a girl it
will be named Melissa. We thought of following it with Gwyneira
Margaret but could you imagine the stick the child would get with the
initials M.G.M.
