My daughter who is now 16 is named Jennifer Marliss; yes Jennifer was the most popular girls name for 1971, but at least she has a different middle name. May also be spelled Marlys - I didn't know that when filling out the birth certificate so just went by the pronunciation. It was difficult agreeing on Jennifer, we also considered Erica and get this - Corathina - a name I think my husband made up. When Jenn started school and found that 80% :) of the girls were named Jennifer she tried using Marliss, but gave it up when the boys *boys will be boys* nicknamed her *mouthless*. Jenn as she likes to be known doesn't seem to mind having a name that seemingly everybody else has but hates her middle name which I think is a wonderful name. I've been told it is a Scandanavian version of Mary but don't know that for certain.

I am due in September and have always loved the name Marlys (name of my hair dresser). If I have a girl, I was thinking of Marlys but don't really know if Marlys Sperling is too much of a mouthfull. I might have to try it as a middle name. Elizabeth Sperling |
