My first baby was born in March, 1987. I named her Carrie Marie.
I named her this because these are 2 names I have always loved.
Just before she was born, I almost decided to name her Carolyn and
call her Carrie. My logic for this was that when she is a successful
business woman (like her mom, ha! ha!), she may not want to use
a name that sounds kind of informal - like Carrie. So Carolyn would
give her a more formal name. However, I loved the name Carrie so
much, I decided the heck with formality. Anyway, most kids choose
what they want to be called by the time they are school age. If
Carrie does not like Carrie, she is welcome to come up with her
own name. BUT, she will always be Carrie to dear old mom!
By the way, another name my husband and I were tossing around was
Kristin. But, my husband always hated the character Kristin on
the TV show Dallas! So, that name did not last long!
