164.0. "Jacqueline" by PMRV70::SCHARTNER () Mon Dec 21 1987 12:48

    My first name is Jacqueline. My nickname is "Jacqui". I used to
    spell it "Jacquie", but dropped the e. I believe Jacqueline is
    a derivative of "James". Does anyone know the origin on James?
    Also, my middle name is Marie. (I'm French on both sides).

    My baby names book says that Jacqueline is French meaning "little
    Jacques".

    Good friends of mine named their daughter Jacquelin and call her
    Jacqui also. They left the e off the end because their last name
    is Town - no e, and her name (Jacqui's mom) is Ann - no e.
    It's funny how we come up with names and spellings like this sometimes.
    It's a very pretty name.

    Who knows something about the name Petra. What is the country of
    origin, what is the meaning of the name?

    Thanks in advance for your answer.

    Petra.

    Well is late for the reply but I heard that name in my country Puerto
    Rico but I'm not sure it is from there or some place else. But
    I remember to have a teacher with that name when I was in elemental
    school there. Her name was petra Nieves.

164.5jacqui - jacquilyn vs. jacqui - jacquelineSHARE::SHEPELUKThu Dec 29 1988 12:185
    I like the name Jacqueline, though I would rather spell it Jacquilyn
    - especially if I spelt my nick name Jacqui. Just something I would
    do if I were to name my daughter. Rather than an e in the full
    name and an i in the middle.

    Hi,

    My husband and I are expecting our first child in August. We both love
    the name Jacqueline for a girl but are having trouble thinking of a
    second name to go with it.

    Any suggestions?

    A short middle name would go good with such a long and beautiful name
    as Jacqueline:

    Jacqueline Anne
    Jacqueline Marie
    Jacqueline Kate
    Jacqueline Diane
    Jacqueline Faith
    Jacqueline Grace

    advice!

164.9I LOVE IT TOO!!!19119::JANDROWFri Sep 13 1991 13:408
    I, too, love the name. In fact, if I could have chosen my own name, I
    would have been Jaquelyn, and called Jaqui. I was lucky enough in high
    school to have been assigned Jacqueline in my French classes for 4
    years. In fact, some of my high school friends still call me Jaqui and
    I even look around if I hear someone calling the name. How easy is it
    to legally change one's name, anyway?......

164.10It was a boyGIDDAY::ROWEDMon Mar 09 1992 22:516
    Well, I have returned to work now after my 8 month maternity leave. I
    was misled by intuition that my baby was a girl - we had an 8lb 4oz
    bouncing baby boy on 29 August 1991. Named him Alexander James.
