luck on your search. Tommy (My fiance) and I have decided that
our first girl will be named Cailiegh. We both loved it when we
heard it.

| My favorite girls name at this time is Arianna. I don't know the
origin; I saw it in a book I was reading one time. I've decided
that when I do have a baby and its a girl, I'll name her this.

159.8 | Alanna | 31265::SOORENKO_FE | Felice Soorenko | Mon Dec 28 1987 11:42 | 3 |
| I think Alanna is as Gaelic as you can get with an A name. It means
little girl or something like that. My daughter is named Ilana
but that is the Hebrew version.

159.12 | Annabelle | PANIC::DAVEY | | Tue Mar 22 1988 12:06 | 9 |
| I have just discovered this NOTES File, so hope I am not too much
out of date, but seeing as we were talking about girls names beginning
with A, I thought I'd join in. Rather old fashioned, and not very
common is Annabelle. I've only known two, one of them was a pet
possum in New Zealand, and another one is me. Hmmm.
Not an Irish name though - sorry.

| My second daughter is named Angharad. She's 9 now and loves her
"unique" name (it turned out that her sister, Bronwyn, wasn't the
only "Bronwen" in her grammar school).
Welch names qualify as Gaelic, don't they?

159.15 | Angharad | EDUHCI::WARREN | | Thu Jun 02 1988 12:24 | 21 |

Re .14:
I like both of your daughters' names. I thought of Bronwyn before,
but he doesn't go too well with Warren. (Try saying Bronwyn Warren
three times faster; now imagine a kid that hasn't mastered her r's
yet!)
What does Angharad mean? Where did you find it? Any other interesting
girl's names you came across (not necessarily beginning with A)?
I'd say Welch names qualify as Gaelic.
Thanks,
-Tracy

159.16 | Alyssa | USRCV1::MACFAWNG | | Mon Jun 06 1988 08:27 | 9 |
| I've always loved names that began with the letter A and ended in
the same. When I was pregnant, my husband and I were watching
"Who's the Boss". The real name of the girl who plays Samantha
is Alyssa. How perfect. So when our little girl was born, we
decided to name her Alyssa Marie.
How about this one?

159.18 | Girl's name to go with Warren | EDUHCI::WARREN | | Wed Jul 20 1988 16:03 | 17 |
| Well, it's time to start deciding on a name...I'm due with our second
child in the end of November.
Our first daughter is Caileigh Ryan Warren. We have a "leftover"
boy's name (Bryant Paul Warren), but no idea what we will name a
second girl. Ideally, we want a two-syllable name, maybe Gaelic,
one that goes well with Warren, and one that is as pretty--and
relatively uncommon--as we think Caileigh is.
Any ideas?
-Tracy
BTW, the middle name will probably be Ann (isn't that _everyone's_
middle name?) after my mother-in-law.

159.20 | Since I'm easily confused | EDUHCI::WARREN | | Thu Jul 21 1988 17:06 | 18 |
| Sandy,
No, it doesn't; in fact, with Ann as a middle name, it might be
a good idea if it doesn't. I like all the names you suggested,
but I think Kelsey, Carly and even Leah are all a little too similar
to Caileigh. And Bonnie Warren sounds kind of sing-songy to me.
(Hey, we're not fussy, are we?)
We prefer two syllables, but it doesn't _have_ to be. In fact,
we've considered Page (or Paige), Stephanie, and Brittany (or Britney).
I think they're all pretty, but none of them feels "just right"
like Caileigh did.
Keep your ideas coming...
-Tracy

159.21 | How about Amy? | BSS::MARAFINE | | Thu Oct 13 1988 12:44 | 11 |
| Since you asked...
I just got into this file and was curious to see what others had
named their kids. I just had a daughter in March and we named
her Amy Elizabeth. Didn't name her after anyone in particular...
just happened to fall in love with the name!
Thought this might go well with Warren. Good luck!

| This is the author of this base note, written over 16 months ago.
Well, I've since had another daughter (now 4 months old) and her
name doesn't start with A, is not Gaelic and is not two syllables
long. But, thanks anyway for all your suggestions.
-Tracy
P.S. Wondering what we did name her? See note 375.
