I am curious to find out the history for the Welsh name Rhiannon,
none of the babyname books has it listed.
Also, my fiance's name is Kerry (another Celtic name meaning Dark??)
and he likes K names for boys (he opts for Kyle as well), but
I like the names Kiefer and Kieran. Does anybody know the histories
of these two names as well, I believe they are also Celtic.
For the person looking for additional Irish names, I think the
name Colin is nice.

I don't know the history of Rhiannon and haven't seen it in
any babyname books either, but have heard that it is Welsh
for "witch".

To find the meaning of Rhiannon, you migh try asking the gentleman
in Note 142.1, he has a babyname book from Ireland.
My sister and her husband were also considerin Colin in addition
to Kyle, but if I ever have a son, I would strongly consider
Colin myself so I'm trying to talk her out of considering it
for her child.

If anyone is still curious, Rhiannon was the primary Goddess ofthe
Welsh Pantheon. It's not suprising that it has been associated
with witch as Wales was very pagan when it worshipped Rhiannon.
She appears, by the way, as a bird and was considered a benevolent
force.
