130.0. "Adrian or Julian" by NHL::WATKINS () Thu Sep 24 1987 14:01

What do you noters think of Adrian or Julian for boys' names.

I'm not expecting, or do I think I will be for a long time,
but that's what I'd name my boys.

Adrian-my idol when I was younger named his son Adrian, and I
loved it ever since I heard it. Funny, my 'first love' was named
Adrian, too, just by coincidence. (He was my 'first love' before
I ever knew what his name was, how odd...) My SO isn't too crazy
about THAT Adrian, I don't think I have much chance naming my child
    Adrian.

Julian-I read a V.C. Andrews book where the child's name was Julian
and they called him Jory. It somehow stuck, and I like it.

I know a man who works at DEC whose name is Adrian. When he was
a kid he hated his name because there was a little girl named Adrienne
in his neighborhood and the other kids told him he had a girl's
name. But, I guess he likes it now.

I like the name Julian, too. Julian Lennon brought the name to
    my attention.

130.2A different spelling for Julian (JULIEN)FACVAX::BELLIVEAUMon Nov 20 1989 12:2016

    Hi,

I love the name Julian. We had a son on July 17, 1989 and we named
him Julien (the E is french). His full name is Julien Michel (Michael)
Belliveau. Some people do have a hard time saying his name, as
they do my Husbands. His name is Michel. Aslo, people find my
name a bit unusual. My name is Germaine, people always want to
    spell it with a (J).

I do recall reading the book from V.C Anders and seeing the name
Julian. But I named Julien for the month of July, and that it went
well with the rest of his name. Also, just for some fun. Julien's
nickname is Bijou which means little Jewel in French.

Ah, yes. Julien Marquet, from "Petals on the Wind" by V.C. Andrews.
I re-read that just last week.

I find French names to be so pretty. I have 2 uncles names Maurice
and Lucien (Mo and Lou to friends and family). The only french
name I have is my middle name, Theresa (pronounced ter-RICE by
    my older relatives).

    re:-1 (Karen, is it?)

Yes, your middle name... My daughter's is Therese (ends in e instead
of a) and my mother had the same name - only our relatives pronounce
it Ter-RASE (long a, accent on the second syllable - almost a Z sound
instead of S but not quite) I like it better with an A at the end,
like yours, but it wouldn't have worked in our case for naming her
    after my mother.

    I LOVE your son's name.
