115.0. "SETH" by NEXUS::R_ADKISSON () Thu Aug 06 1987 15:51

    Since my name is Rothel I didn't want a common name for my son,
    so I named him Seth. I had heard the name before but not in modern
    times. I thought it sounded strong, but sensitive. The name comes
    from the bible and Seth was the third child of Adam and Eve. Its
    from him that we are decended. Seth was also my parents third
    grandchild. I believe the name means "the chosen one".

    Seth has actually become fairly popular lately. I have the "Best
    Baby Name Book" by Bruce Lansky which we got when expecting #1
    about 2 years ago. It has a list of the most popular baby names
    in 1983 - 100 boys names and 100 girls names. Seth was listed
    as #55. I like the name a lot. Still, even considering the books
    list, it's not a name I hear very often.

    When I was a kid (in the early 60's) I had a cat that I named "Seth".
     She turned out to be a she but the name stuck and she lived for
    12 years. So, I still picture a beautiful, fluffy black and white
    cat when I hear the name Seth! At the time, I got the name from
    the TV show "Wagon Train". Seth Adams was the fictional name of
    Ward Bond's character, the wagon master.
