110.0. "She couldn't wait a minute longer" by FNYFS::AUNGIER (Orla Maria, born 1st August) Mon Aug 03 1987 02:49

On saturday morning Orla Maria was born to us. She couldn't wait
to get out and see this world so she came to this world in an ambulance
and as if that was not bad enough, she decided that since each of
the other 2 were born in Ireland and France that she would be different
so she came into the world in Switzerland.

The reason we called her Orla was that we could not find a nice
French name that could not be translated into Spanish or French
so after many reading of books with names my wife was fed up. She
worked for a family in Ireland as an au-pair and they had a daughter
whose name was Orla and my wife thought it was a nice name so thats
how Orla Maria got her name.

I don't know its meaning but we are trying to find it.

Congratulatios&Enhorabuena Ren.

I have your Orla-History:

Is a nice word in Spain, who mean: Fringe, Trimming, border... mean too
other thinks, but very difficult to explain in a simple wold, I try in a
simple paragraph:

When you (I, they...) finish the learning phase in the University, is a
normal use to go ALL the student and teachers of the same course tho a
photography study, and prepare a big poster with ALL the individual
pictures in a nice format, with nice BORDER. The results is named "Orla"
and is a normal view in a advocat or medicine doctor house "the" Orla.

"Orlar" ir the related verb, wich mean, most of the times, "Finish in a
nice and good way any work.

I like the name, but isn't normal in Spain. I'm sure your girl is very
nice too. Congratulations again.

And best regards.

I have an Irish friend called Orla who assures me that the name (in
Irish anyway) means "The Golden One".
