103.1 | Hannah | GIGI::TRACY | | Mon Jul 20 1987 10:57 | 15 |
| I like it. In fact, even though our daughter is only seven months
old, I'm already actively looking for girl's names in case the next
one is another girl--and Hannah is one of the ones we've thought
of. In our case, we probably won't use it because we want Ann (my
mother-in-law's name) as a middle name and that doesn't work too
well.
Hannah used to conjure up a picture of a fat, older woman for me.
However, recently as "old-fashioned" names have become popular,
it has come to make me imagine a sweet little girl with long honey
blond hair (either in a bun or in long ponytails in ringlets) with
big brown eyes.

| Very old fashioned, but I tend to like it also. I could not picture
a girl having the name, until I read Tracy's description. I could
only picture a woman in a gray bun. :-)

103.3 | I LOVE HANNAH TOO | 57419::PHINNEY | | Tue Jul 21 1987 12:53 | 11 |
| I LOVE THE NAME HANNAH!!! MY HUSBAND AND I ARE TRYING TO DECIDE
ON BABY NAMES EVEN THOUGH I'M NOT PREGNANT YET! HANNAH IS ONE I
JUST STARTED THINKING ABOUT A WEEK AGO. I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN AS
FAR AS IT BEING AN OLD FASHIONED NAME. AS FAR AS PICTURING WHAT
A CHILD/PERSON NAMED HANNAH WOULD LOOK LIKE? I THINK I PICTURE
A LIGHT HAIRED (STRAWBERRY BLOND), BLUE EYED, FAIR LITTLE GIRL.I
I ALSO THINK ITS IMPORTANT HOW HANNAH WILL SOUND WITH THE FIRST
- EXCUSE ME, LAST NAME. MY LAST NAME IS PHINNEY SO WHAT WOULD YOU
THINK OF HANNAH PHINNEY. I THINK A LITTLE OF GIRL OF OURS WOULD
LOOK AS I DECRIBED (I'M THAT WAY) SO IF MY HUSBAND LIKES THE NAME
- HANNAH IT IS!!! I THINK YOU MADE A GOOD CHOICE TOO!

| Thanks for the input on the name. Now I will have something to
help convince my husband! (I haven't even brought it up yet as
I'm afraid he won't like it.) Congratulations on Riley. I think
that is a great name too.

| If you need arguments to support the name "Hannah",
use the example of Woody Allen's movie "Hannah and Her Sisters".
In the movie, Hannah was young and pretty (as befits the name).

| Hannah is the hebrew version of Anna meaning "grace". It also means
"life". My great grandmother's name was Hannah and being of Jewish
decent, my hebrew name is Hannah, even though my real name is Lori.

| I have no children, seeing as I'm only 19, but I named my first
cat Hannah. Not that it's just a 'cat name' but because I liked
it.

103.14 | Hannah is a wonderful family name | REGENT::WORKMAN | | Wed Sep 30 1987 08:32 | 8 |
| We are still trying to start our family, but we have already decided
on the name Hannah if we have a girl. My gg-grandmother's name
was Sarah Hannah, and I had always wanted to use that name, but Sarah
is too common now so we have decided on Hannah Opal. (Opal is my
grandmother's middle name)

Hannah Opal has a real pretty ring to it!
re ."Hannah Healy"
I don't think it's too "H"ie, I think it's kinda too "sing-songy"
though.

103.17 | Hannah/Hana, *the* name for 87/88 | PLANET::MORTON | | Wed Feb 24 1988 15:30 | 9 |
| Maybe Hannah/Hana will be *the* name of 1987 or 1988; it's becoming
very popular. My niece who will be a year old in March is named
Hana Melissa. My grandmother was a great Irish woman named Hannah
McSweeney Callahan. She was hardworking, neat as a pin, white-haired;
Hana is happy, cherubic, chubby, a *Gerber* baby with blue eyes
and strawberry blonde hair. It's a great old name coming back with
some variation - at least in our family.

103.18 | HANNAH MIRIAM | SCOMAN::SILVERMAN | | Thu Feb 25 1988 12:44 | 6 |
| Being Jewish we needed to select two set of names for our daughter.
Her "civil" name is Amanda Marie and her hebrew name is Hannah Miriam.
She was named in honor of her great-great-grandmother Anna. I'm
glad some of the more traditional names are making a comeback!

| I like the name Hannah. I was born with the name Catherine McCarthy,
my parents dident give any of us middle names because they felt
we should be able to pick our own at our conformation. (I come from
an Irish Catholic family- could you tell?) My sister Anne decided
to take the name of my dad's mother "Veronica" I inturn decided
to take the name of my mother's mother "Hannah". Hannah Sullivan
passed on 8 months before my parents got married. Unfortunatly
I never had a chance to meet Hannah, But at family function I here
a lot about her - she was a very strong willed person and knew what
she wanted and worked hard to get it. She was a very generous person
and had "9" children so she had to be a go getter!
Best of luck, and Congrats on your pregnacy!

103.20 | I'm a Hannah | BARTLE::MACKEEN | | Mon Jul 25 1988 16:43 | 20 |
| I am a Hannah, 22, tall and with dark brown hair. I guess I will
turn into the old woman with my hair in a bun. For now I enjoy
having an old name. When people hear it they say "That is Jewish,
or German or Arabic (Hena)."
My full name is: Hannah Rebecca Vesenka
My mother had already fulfilled her duty of naming my siblings after
people, so she took two weeks, in which I remained nameless as she
was expecting a boy, before she cam up with it.
It will be fun to see all the younger kids with my name!
