90.0. "Kendra Ruth" by 11822::RFLAHERTY () Mon Mar 23 1987 09:40

    Because I have not seen it listed, I thought I would add my daughter's
    name to the BABYNAMES list. I chose Kendra as her name for a number
    of reasons. It was an unusual name but not so different that kids
    would make fun of it. It is an old Anglican name which means "the
    knowing or understanding woman", which I thought was neat. Having
    disliked my own name all my life, it was important to me that she
    have a name she would like. Her last name is Castaldo, so that
    has a lyrical sound. Also, the nicknames Kenny, Ken, and K.C. were
    cute.

    At eight years old she is very happy with her name. Her friends
    call her Kendie (which she likes). She hates being called "Ken"
    cause she is not a boy. Most importantly, she says she realizes
    I put a lot of thought into choosing her name, so to her that makes
    it beautiful.

    In the mid 1970's I went to high school with a "Kendra".
    Maybe because my father's name is Kenneth I always liked
    her name.

    I went to college with a Kendra Van Rye, which I was always thought
    was pretty.
