84.0. "Minda - who are you" by VAXWRK::CONNOR () Thu Feb 19 1987 09:12

    I ran across a womn with the name Minda. I was fascinated by it
    since I never heard of it before and yet is only one letter form
    each of Linda or Mindy. I have looked in several baby books but
    can find no entry for Minda. I think it is a very pretty name as
    well as unique. The woman is question happened to be Jewish but
    I dont know if that is pertinent. I didn't get a chance to ask
    her the derivation.

84.1I think it's German10257::BOSSHARMIFri Mar 13 1987 17:3411
    I believe Minda is German. I remember seeing the name in a baby
    name book, and I think the book indicated it was German. My name
    is Minden. I think this is also German. My family and friends
    call me that, or Mindi, or Min.

    On a family trip, when I was a young teenager, we passed through
    a town called Minden, Nebraska. When I got home, I looked through
    a world atlas for more Minden locations. I found about a dozen
    in the U.S., but only one outside the country--in Germany.

    My mother heard the name in the late fifties; I was born in '58.

    I also have yet to meet or hear of another Minden. I sort of feel
    I've got a lonely name.

    I think you are very fortunate to have a unique name. I wouldn't
    think of it as a lonely name. I feel unfortunate to have one of
    the most common names in the country. Debbie

    Although my boyfriend has had alot of fun with it. For example
    Deborelli, Debraindardo  and, Debbie Cakes,
