My sister named her daughter Brianne, which I just love. She found the name Brianna in an Irish baby book, but changed it to Brianne. Her middle name is Power (surname). My other niece's name is Shannon Power. Both very Irish, very pretty, and a little uncommon. I will be visiting Ireland next week, maybe I'll hear a few "different" Irish names then. I'll let you know. Tricia

How was Ireland? My grandmother was born in County Killkenny, I still have lots of family out there, I plan on going there in '89. I told my sister about Brianne (she's looking for names) before I read your comment, right away my aunt said, "that's very irish!" I didn't think of it till then and said I would check into it, I quess she was right. My sister's maiden name (as is mine) is Saranita, Irish names didn't go too well with Italian surnames, so when she married a McHugh, she decided to look for new and different Irish names. Thanks for the idea! (she loved Brianne). | |||||

When I was in high school, I babysat for a set of twins, Tara and Brianna, and their younger sister, Erica. They used to call Brianna Bri or Bria for short. (Named after a yuppy cheese!) |
