34.0. "Baby Boomer's Names" by 5150::RENSING () Tue Aug 05 1986 08:40
I occasionally write short stories, and am always looking for names
for characters. I had been using my mother's ancient "Name Your
Baby" book for years. Just recently I came across a new book called
"The Baby Boomer's Guide to Baby Names" (or something similar to
that). It is a very interesting, and humorous, book. It gives
you not only different names, but etomologies and nicknames. Even
more it goes on to give a short description of how the author views
a person who is named by such and such a name.
I found it very interesting that names such as the following were
primarily the ones that were included. The baby boomers who had
once been called Dick, Jane, Susan and Bobby now seem determined
to all name their babies something totally different, resulting
in lots of people using the same "different" names all over again.
For instance:
Courtney Nathaniel
Ashley Ashby
Kristin Nicholas
Tiffany Bryant
Elise (my favorite) Christian (Christopher)
Caitlin Brendan
Jennifer Jeremey
Julia (Julianne) Justin
Jessica Jason
(notice that "J" names are particularly prevelant)
Emily Jonathon
Erin Sebastian
Etc. Now, don't get me wrong; most of these names that I've listed
I wouldn't hesitate a moment to use. I just think it's kind of
funny that we go from one baby boomer's type of society to another
with similarities like this!
Regards from a not so common,
Dale (actually "Dale" is getting commoner - both male and female
alike!)

| I have two boys - Kyle Raymond (first name - I just heard it and
loved it) (middle name - after my father) and Ryan Stewart (first
name - I loved this one, too, not realizing how popular it was getting)
(middle name - after my father-in-law). These boys are the first
grandsons for each of the grandfathers so giving them their middle
names was a gesture on our part to keep their names in the family.
Although my older sister is named after my father **Rae**.
Sandra Jean Dismuke (nothing new here)

34.2 | It goes in circles | GLDOA::TREBILCOTT | I can't believe it's only Wednesday | Wed Sep 22 1993 14:09 | 7 |
| I noticed the baby-boomer generation do the naming scheme. It seemed
like all of a sudden there were Ashley's, Taylor's, Kaitlin's, Kaila's
everywhere.
I think it does go in circles.
