| | If this name were French, it would be pronounced Anna-leez.

From what I have seen in print, I believe this name is German.
It is pronounced as you say, for I have also seen it written Anneliese,
and this is certainly a German name.

    Hope this helps.

The name Annalise is definitely German. I know, because so is my
name and all the names in my family. Annalise, Klaus, Christian,
    etc.

| | Annalise is a name contraction, like Maryanne...

This one is a contraction of Anna and Lise

Lise being a diminutive of Elisabeth

And I cannot remember meanings off the top of my head.

Yes, I do believe that Anneliese is German. My mother is German
and her name is Anneliese, pronounced Ah-nah-lee-zah. It is also
my middle name, my full name being Julie Anneliese Vogelsang (my
father is also German). My brothers name is Erik Benjamin, and
my sister is Monika Susanne(not like Suzanne, but Su-sah-nay, the
    accent on the "sah".

Anneliese has become a rather popular name. My mother works at
Stanford Hospital in Maternity and quite a few woman have named
there daughters Anneliese. I like it myself and will probably end
up using it in my childrens name.

    and she's Italian.

There is also an old GERMAN folk song called "Anneliese", that has
been around for a long time.
