| I believe Patricia comes from Latin meaning ""from the nobility"
it is the female form of Patrick. Elizabeth is biblical and has
all sorts of nicknames Liz, Beth, Betsy, Libby etc.
I am epecting a child on Christmas Day, any holiday names other
than the obvious (Holly, Noel, Nicholas)

| Another holiday name that my husband and I considered was Carole
-- nickname Carrie or Cari (I'm assuming a girl).
We had a daughter last holiday season. She was due around Christmas
but arrived on January 8th -- so beware!! Her name is Lauren Patricia.
Kids are the greatest!!

| Haven't been in this file for awhile, but visited Italy this year
and saw some "old" friends who have two daughters who speak broken
English. In the process, my daughter, Patricia, got a new nickname.
When my daughter told the Italian girl that her nickname is "Patty",
the Italian girl didn't understand and thought she said "Patry",
thereby dropping the "icia" off Patricia and substituting "y".
It really does make sense and with a cute Italian accent, didn't
sound too bad. Hope you enjoyed this amusing incident. ;')

My wifes' name is Patricia Jacqueline. She never liked it very
much but goes by another nickname, tricia. Actually it is pronounced
the same as trisha, but a different spelling.

| I was born on December 23, 1962...I was supposed be born on Christmas
day but couldn't wait that long... My name is Loreen Rose, not very
christmasy but I just wanted to say to those who have babies around
christmas...when they're older always emphasize THEIR birthday...
My parents always seemed to Over compensate my b-day just a little
to make sure I wasn't lost in the Christmas shuffle. But i know
people who felt "jipped" as a little kid for just that reason.
My parents always told me when I was little that I was especially
blessed to have my birthday so close to Christ's. If your not
religious, of course, this won't work.
What ever you do, Make sure their birthday doesn't get "Lost"
in the Chistmas suffle....For some people it's already a lonely
enough time of the year!

Hi ! I was also born on Dec. 23rd 1962 ... but here in Geneva !
I know you posted your note in 1986, so are you still around ?
I'm new to this notes file and as my name is Patricia I started
to read this one. I don't have any babies yet, but I love them and
will probably have one in the coming years, so may be I'll find
his/her name here ! I saw some nice names, but not all easy to pronounce
in French ...

| I was named Marie Patricia Suzanne Mathieu. In the business world,
I go by 'Patricia' but at home they call me 'Patsie' (the french
version of Patsy).
Ever heard of the singer Patsy Gallant? I'm often told I look like
her; should check her out sometime ;^).

| It is quite common for the Italians and Spanish to pronounce Patricia
Pah-tree'-chee-ah. However Patricia is the femine form of Patrick,
Patrick translates to Italian as Pasqual (the French use Pascal I
think) and the feminine form of Pasqual is Pasqualina. My paternal
grandmother often shortened that to Lina (lean'-ah). I have used Pat
for years as it happens to be my initials as well as a common nickname.
It has often been convenient to have a non-gender specific first name
in business correspondence but it makes for some awkward social meetings.

As for X-mas names, what about Natale. (as in Bon Natale - Italian
Merry Christmas)
