As far as I know, there is only one American sub on dry land in the U.S. that tourists can go inside, and it is in Portsmouth, NH. The others I know of are a German sub on dry land in Chicago, the Nautilus in the water at New London, CT, and this one in New York. | |||||

If the sub is located by the Intrepid then it must be in water. I
don't know for sure but that is my guess.

re: Intrepid's sub... from passing by I'd say it's an old diesel sub
that was converted to carry missles before they came from the "factory
with the missle and nuclear engine options". There's a misshapen hump
aft of the conning tower that looks like a Rube Goldberg attachment.
Also, about forty minutes drive from Manhattan, there is a WWII vintage
sub in the water in northern NJ that is available for tours and
"birthday parties"; the Ling.
