re: Intrepid's sub... from passing by I'd say it's an old diesel sub that was converted to carry missles before they came from the "factory with the missle and nuclear engine options". There's a misshapen hump aft of the conning tower that looks like a Rube Goldberg attachment. Also, about forty minutes drive from Manhattan, there is a WWII vintage sub in the water in northern NJ that is available for tours and "birthday parties"; the Ling. |
