995.0. "Signature on certificate affidavit" by TLE::LESSARD () Mon Apr 15 1996 16:52

    I have an old investment plan I am liquidating. The paperwork
    requires a notary stamp, but additionally, requires a signature
    of a "Corporate Officer, Partner, or Trustee". (According to the
    fine print, this is required because my current address is different
    than that of the original paperwork.) Beyond that, there is no
    additional information, other than saying the notary is NOT a guarantee
    of my signature.

    What exactly are they looking for? Do I walk into a bank and ask
    an officer there to sign this? (I don't belong to a commercial bank,
    either, I am a DCU member - is that a service they can provide?)

    If this is not the appropriate forum, I could appreciate a pointer
    as well.

995.2DCU does guarantee signaturesSLOAN::HOMMon Apr 15 1996 22:0617
As of the first week in February, 1996 the credit union can guarantee
signatures - i f that's what you need in your document.

All you need is proof of identification. This service is provided to
its members at no charge to its members.

The credit union is a member of the
Security Transfer Agent Medallion Program. Stop in at the DCU branch
in ZKO for more details.

    Thanks very much for the information - it will make my life a
    lot easier to have the DCU take care of this!
995.5It sounds like you need both.ICS::MANDEVILLEThu May 30 1996 13:357
    Just be sure you have the right signature. We had to liquidate some
    stock that was part of my mother's estate. Some of the paperwork
    had to be notarized and some needed guarantee signatures. The DCU
    did the guarantee. I have a friend who is a notary. You cannot use
    either one in place of the other. You probably need both.
