I'm writing this note to give more people the opportunity to
come to the initial meetings of a new investment club based
in Hudson. The club has not officially formed yet, but we
have had one meeting where we heard from the president and
portfolio manager of another investment club. Now that we
have heard how to get started and what worked and what didn't
in this other investment club, we are going to start
discussing goals and getting into more specifics. It was a
general consensus at the first meeting that we probably won't
start investing for a couple of months. Also it will be very
important for every member to participate. Some of the advantages
to being in an investment club that were cited at the first
    meeting include:

    	1. Education - each meeting (once per month) a member will
give a presentation of a company whose stock we will consider
for our portfolio. We will all learn from the shared research
that is presented and then have input into investment
    	decisions.

    	2. Minimize the cost of commissions.

    	3. Experience analyzing companies (stock price, p/e ratios,
annual reports, etc.) and investing, which would help us
to build our own private portfolios with more confidence.

    	4. Small investment. We were thinking of about $25/month
each at the beginning to get us started. Perhaps some people
    	might want to do more.

    	5. Flexibility - everything will be open to a majority vote, and
we will tailor the goals and practices of the club to suit its
    	members.

So, if you might be interested in a club like this, send me some email
and I will inform you of when the next meeting is. As I said, we
haven't formed yet, so everything is up in the air right now. The only
thing we know is that we have a group of people who are interested
in investing and would like to be in a club to help share the expenses
    and the research.

Either way the result is the same, a hole in your pockets .... In any case the question still stands, in which State is this club forming? (While George works in Hudson, Tax-a-chu-setts, he may live in NH, as I do, even when I worked in the wonderful Commonwelth below the border) ..... | The club is having its meetings in Hudson, Mass. Maybe we should
    concentrate on Tax-sheltered investments...
