    explain the terms:      earn/share   -     Price/earnings

    and also what are attractive numbers which draw buyers?

	Earnings/share is the last reported Q earnings divideded by the
	number of outstanding shares.  The Price to Earnings Ratio
	(ala the PE Ratio) is the current price of the stock divided
	by the earnings for the last 4 quarters (which is why stocks that
	have posted losses for at least the last 4 quarters don't have
	a PE Ratio)

	Depends on the industry, current valuations, etc.  In the case of
	the PE, the lower the better, but some please less value on
	the standard PE which is based on "trailing earnings", and place
	more value on the PE based on "expected future earnings".

                       Security APL Quoteserver Glossary

Ticker symbol. The 1-6 character symbol used to identify the security. See the
ticker symbol primer.

Last Traded At. The dollar value per share of the most recent trade of the
security. Canadian securities are in Canadian dollars.

Date/Time. The date and time the last trade was entered at the exchange. All
times are eastern time zone. If the last trade was over 24 hours ago only the
date will be displayed.

$ Change. The dollar change from the previous day's closing value.

% Change. The % change from the previous day's closing value.

Volume. The number of shares traded for the current day in thousands of shares
(i.e. 10=10,000 shares). Currently our system cannot handle volumes greater
than 6,553,600 shares. If the volume goes higher than this figure our system
will show an unpredictable amount. We should have a solution to this problem 2Q
1996.

# of Trades. The number of times the security traded for the current day.

Opening Price. The value of the first trade of the day for a security.

Previous Close. The value of the last trade of the previous day for a security.

Bid. The amount the market specialist is offering if you wish to sell shares.
We are not allowed to display this item for the NYSE and AMEX.

Ask. The amount the market specialist is offering if you wish to buy shares. We
are not allowed to display this item for the NYSE and AMEX.

Day Low. The lowest value the stock traded at for the current day.

Day High. The highest value the stock traded at for the current day.

52 Week Low. The lowest closing value the stock traded at during the last 52
weeks. This value is not updated until the end of the day.

52 Week High. The highest closing value the stock traded at during the last 52
weeks. This value is not updated until the end of the day.

EPS. The latest reported company earnings divided by the total outstanding
shares.

P/E Ratio. The ratio of the previous closing price and the earnings per share.

Annual Dividend. The lastest reported quarterly dividend multiplied by 4.

Market Capitalization. The total market value of common stock outstanding in
millions. This data is updated monthly and comes from Ford Investor Services
Inc.

Beta. The price sensitivity to market, based on monthly price changes relative
to the S&P 100 Index over the past 60 months. This data is updated monthly and
comes from Ford Investor Services Inc.

EPS Growth. The 5 year reported earnings per share growth rate. Data is in
percent per year. This data is updated monthly and comes from Ford Investor
Services Inc.
