    My broker wants me to buy into a small Canadian software company
    called Hummingbird Communications. It is selling on the TSE for $26 and
    change and is also on NASDAQ. They are developing a PC xserver
    application for unix. This should be a growing market, but I would
    think there are probably hundreds of companies working on such a
    product. Has anyone heard of Hummingbird Communications, or have any
    opinions?

	i've followed this stock for the last year or so and it hasn't moved much. fell to a low of around 13, up to around 18... i'd need some financials to look at before putting money down.

	Just a guess, but I'd say your broker is probably looking after his own best interests, not yours. John

	Our eXcursion server product competes with Hummingbird's (I think it's called Exceed). I'm told by our product people that Hummingbird's has a dominant market share (~over 50%?) and has more features and runs faster. But our next version of eXcursion will put us about even. Don't know anything about the financials or the company, other than the impression they are a darn fine marketer.
