782.0. "WWW Brokerage and Financial Advisory pages" by TLE::FOSTER (I use LISP because I know: C, C++, Fortran, Pascal, Ada, Basic .) Wed Nov 02 1994 10:36

A friend of mine, who works at Fidelity, asked me if I knew anybody in
Digital that would be interested in being a field test site for a new
proeduct that Fidelity is working on. I don't have too many details,
but from our brief discussion this weekend, he said that they are
working on a WWW server for mutual fund quotes. I needs to be much
more information, but I was wondering:

      - Would anybody be interested in accessing Fidelity's WEB page
      - Are they any legal constrainsts that I need to worry about

    thanks

What's the status of the software ? Have they just developed .HTML or
a complete customised front end ??

I ask because we are considering an internet/WWW solution for the local
    (Australian) financial marketplace.

Caution: author mixes in a fair amount of Conservative dogma, those not
of the "right" persuasion might wonder why people pay for this.

Here's a good quote server and charting package from M.I.T.:

    	http://www.ai.mit.edu/stocks.html

you can get quotes, download prices, display price & volume history,
all free (for now at least). You can also do the same for mutual
funds, or you can look at the most frequently graphed stocks if you
think that someone else must know something that you don't.

    pretty "kewl".

I haven't looked thru this much but they seem to offer advice on
direct T-bill purchases from the Treasury, and a pitch for you to
    use their "inexpensive" services.

They offer a product called "PowerTrader" which combines your PC and
real-time data feed into a trading workstation, or one of several in
a LAN configuration. Very expensive, but they do offer links to two
different free quote providers (secapl and PCquote) and various other
pointers that may be of interest to some.

Mark Twain Bank in St. Louis has long been an innovator in modern U.S.
banking, some of which is old hat to the rest of the world.

Two worthy items of note: They are offering REAL, SPENDABLE DIGITAL CASH,
and for some time now have offered accounts in currencies other than the
U.S. dollar. (Minimum: $2500 or so, varies with currency). Many currencies
    are available.

Check it all out on their WWW page.
