asset allocation is just a mathematical procedure for weighting the elements of a portfolio such that risk is minimized for any target level of return. for a real nuts-and-bolts approach, you can try "Numerical methods in Finance". For a more theoretical explanation you can try "Investing" by Bodie, Kane, and Marcus, or one of the original books by Markowitz, which you can find in the MIT Dewey library. /jim |
