758.0. "Getty Petroleum (GTY)" by NETRIX::michaud (Jeff Michaud, PATHWORKS for Win. NT) Fri Aug 12 1994 14:44
Any one know why Getty (GTY on the NYSE) reached a new 52 week
low yesterday?
Volume for the last month of so has been less than 1,000 per
trading day, and yesterday the volume was around 4,000 and
the price dropped.
I'm also curious what the difference is between control and holding
of the common stock. The March 31, 1994 S&P 500 report for it
under capitalization:
Common Stock: 12,617,788 shs. ($0.10 par).
Officers and directors control 47%
Institutions hold about 13%
Shareholders of record: 3,400
Is "control" in this case equiv to "hold" (ie. owning)?

758.1 | Nigeria Labor Strike | MR2MI1::BMORRISON | | Fri Aug 12 1994 18:05 | 4 |
| My guess is that Getty is heavily involved in Nigeria where there
is a labor strike. No oil is coming out of there. That is what
is causing the higher prices at the pump recently. At least that
is what the oil companies tell us.
