Anyone following Adaptec (NASDAQ: ADPT)? They make SCSI controllers for PC's. Their stock is trading around $21/share. Any info. on long or short term prospects is appreciated. Srinivas.

If the traffic in the Adaptec note in the IBMPC notesfile is any indication, they are definitely a buy. They are the de facto standard in the SCSI controllers for the PC's. With the demand for disk drives larger than 1Gig growing and the IDE disk drives (the most commonly used disks in the PC's) not available in sizes 1Gig and larger, ADPT's business is surely to grow in the short term (1-2 years). Last year, they also acquired one of their competitors: Trantor. Note that they already doubled in the last few months and recently split 2 for 1. | |||||

Can't recall who off hand, but there is a senior x-decie either running Adaptec, or in another senior position, FWIW. |
