| IFMX's recent decline has been a mystery to me. It's 52-week high is
in the 27+ range. They have solid products and are growing at a good
rate, but analysts consider them one notch below the two giants:
Oracle and Sybase. I don't see any evidence yet that they are losing
sales to the other two (who seem to be cannibalizing the DEC's and the
IBM's right now).
I'm still bullish on IFMX.

| Dropped down to 16 the day before yesterday. Of course, as soon as
I put in a bid for 16 at the open yesterday, it climbed back to 17 1/4.

I know lot of people in this group has been curious about the Informix results.
The following are the results of the December quarter.
Dec Qtr 1993 Dec Qtr 1992
Revenues: 101 M 96 M
Profits: 18 M c15 M
Outstandng Shares: 67.7 M
EPS: .27 .23
Year:
Revenues: 352 M 283 M
Profits: 56 M 47 M
EPS: .83 .75
c: Includes a charge of 10.5 M related to settlement of litigation.
Profits seems to have increased about 20% but the revenue growth is very
tiny 6%. The market value of the company at yesterday's stock price of 17.25
is about 1.2 billion dollars.
I have followed this stock for over 4 years now. In the first quarter of 1991
IFMX was as low as 65 cents (split adjusted) and it has gone up a whopping
2650% in 3 years. What has the company done in the last three years? It's
revenue has gone up somewhere between 75 to 100% in 3 years and it has gone
from significant losses in 1990 to a very healthy profits of 56 M dollars in
3 years. Does that justify its increase of 26 fold in stock price. I am not
sure. With out the revenue growth the stock cannot have a long term significant
growth. At today's price the stock is trading at about 3 times its trailing
revenues and a PE of 21. There is no wonder ORCL and SYBS are trading at lofty
prices because the growth of those two companies are about twice as fast as
IFMX and their profit margins are increasing very steadily.
I don't the reasons why the revenue growth is slow, probably I will know when
I look in DJNR tonight. I know strong dollar is probably one of the reasons.
But that does not justify for investors. Unless if they have some legitimate
reason, the stock could probably take some beating today. Some of the positives
about the company are it has a cash of 144 million dollars and it has bought back
about 490,000 shares of the company. I would stay away from the stock unless the
company has some key new products that are coming in 1994 that will increase
the revenues by atleast 20 to 25% and profits by 20 to 25% or the company
should start doing some aquisitions to growth further if they cannot grow
in their business.

| IFMX was up another 1+ on 2/11 to close at 21. A buy at 16 a week ago
would have been great!
Also, note that their 1992 earnings included a special one time
revenue from <mumble>, so their earnings growth is better than what
appears in .4.
My projection is 30 by the end of this year!

| IFMX was up today to close at $23 3/8. Was upgraded by some analyst to
"buy" from "hold".
Re .8: They even went over your projection, setting a $35 price range
in 12-18 months.
I am holding for now.
