| 552.2 | Universal Life?? | ARNOLD::ECK |  | Tue Aug 17 1993 15:25 | 7 |
| | What I think you have been approached to buy is called Universal Life.
It is a combination of term life insurance and mutual fund investments.
Beware of guaranteed returns (if any in the mutual fund) and projected
returns which tend to be very optimistic. Not knowing your specific
situation it's tough to recommend one type of policy over another, but
your may want to consider a Term insurance policy and seperately
    consider a no-load mutual fund.

| | Actually what I have now is an universal life and what
I believe was being offered was a term policy with the
    mutual fund investment.

I haven't heard the whole presentation. This is all so
    confusing.

| | I have a "variable" life with the Equitable. What you are talking
about sounds similar. I have eight different investment vehicles
to choose from that ranged from 3% to 31% return last year. The
    interest is tax deferred.

READ and UNDERSTAND all the material before you make any decisions.
There are often surrender clauses, etc.

| | Primerica only sells term insurance. (and Mutual Funds too).

| | I never directly delt with Primerica. But, from the very little I know
about them, their term life insurance policies seem to be very
competitive. If you don't have term life yet, it may be worth looking
    into.

| | WHENEVER PRIMERICA CALLS IN MY AREA IT IS THE OLD "A.L. WILLIAMS".
TYPICALLY THEY PUSH 20 YR TERM. THEY LIKE TO TAKE A UNIVERSAL/WHOLE
LIFE POLICY AND SWITCH IT TO TERM AND INVEST THE DIFFERENCE IN MUTUAL
FUNDS. NOT EVERYBODY NEEDS 20 YEARS... SO IF YOU ARE LOOKING AT TERM
SHOP AROUND. THERE IS AN OUTFIT IN CA. THAT GETS YOU THE BEST RATES
OVER THE U.S. 1-800-BUY-TERM. I'VE USED THEM TO SEE HOW GOOD A DEAL
I'VE COME UP WITH. NO PRESSURE SALES!!!!
