| I guess I'm not to clear on this but I'm not sure about much these
days. I went to a investment club (open house) meeting last week and
they talked about filling out these ssg's on every stock that you are
looking at before purchasing. I have a copy of a ssg which on 1 side
is a visual analysis of Sales, Earning and prices over the last 10
years. The ssg term or whatever it is comes from NAIC. (NATIONAL
ASSOCIATION OF INVESTORS CORP.) It says filling out an ssg is one of
the most widely used aid to good investment judgment. I was sent mail
saying that a copy of the chapters explaining ssg and how to fill them
out is in the mail so I guess I'll wait a few days and see what it is.
Sorry I dont have much info but this is totaly new to me

463.5 | it's an NAIC tool | MEMIT::GIUNTA | | Thu Apr 29 1993 15:44 | 16 |
| The SSG is the tool that the NAIC recommends using to analyze a stock. You
chart earnings, sales and stock price on the graph to get a nice visual
of what each of those things is doing especially in relation to one another,
and it helps to predict what you think the earnings will be over the next
5 years. The other side has areas to calculate some management metrics
as well as to do the calcs on where the stock may go, both up and down,
and to determine a risk factor for that particular stock. There is a step
by step explanation in the NAIC Investors Manual (I just got the new copy;
my old one had been around a while). I find that using the SSG is a
disciplined way for me to evaluate stocks, and it helps me to keep track of
why I thought something was worth buying or watching in the first place.
Where are you located? It might be easier to go over an SSG at lunch than
to try explain it here.
