I need to transfer ALL my wifes Pebsco funds out of Nationwide fixed Annuity before the 14th of April. Legal battle between the state of Massachusetts and Nationwide was settle but if the funds are not out by the 14th of April a 1% Penalty will take place. My question is I'm looking to put the Balance of this fund at 1 of 2 places. They are.. 1. Fidelity Growth Company fund (high risk) or 2. Wellington fund This money we do not need to touch for the next 30 years.. Any comments? JOhn

Well I ended up putting everything into the Fidelity growth fund and i'm happy with the 1 year return I got. The question I have now that hopefully I'll get some input is.. What is the differance between Fidelity Growth fund and Fidelity Growth and Income fund? Reports say that the Growth and Income fund has an A rating during Bear markets and the Growth has a C rating.

Fidelity Growth invests primarily in equities which show appreciation potential. Fidelity Growth & Income invests, additionally, in equities which have dividends - hence the 'income' part of the name. G&I funds are typically less volatile than Growth funds as the companies which pay dividends are more mature and stable than those companies which do not pay dividends. You could expect Growth funds to have a higher total return than G&I funds because of the increased risk - when times are good. You could also expect G&I's not to fall by NAV as much as Growths during a bear market. Every fund has a prospectus which lists the fund's objectives, past performance and the major investments which the funds make - eg: a list of their top stock holdings plus debt securities (bonds)
