418.0. "Real-time quotes via TELEMET" by NECSC::EINES (CSC/MA SNA product support) Wed Mar 17 1993 17:20
I have seen ads for two services that TELEMET offers. One seems to compete
with SIGNAL. You run their software on your PC, and use their receiver
to get delayed, or real time ($$$) quotes. They also offer a handheld unit,
which looks similar to Quotrek.
I'm investigating getting the handheld unit. The station whose sideband
they use for their data is closer to me. I am out of range for Quotrek.
Also, TELEMET may be cheaper. For $33/month, you get 15 minute delayed
quotes for all exchanges. Real-time quotes cost an extra $20/month per
exchanged (NYSE,CME,CBT, etc). It sounds pretty reasonable.
Has anyone had any TELEMET experiences? They don't "demos". You have to
buy their service to test it out. Then, if you're not satisfied, they claim
to offer a complete refund. Their attitude seems to be "we're cheaper; we
don't have to be nice".
