| I'm a stockholder of BMET and also recently added to my position in
the downdraft. They have been growing at a rate of about 25%. I've
seen no recent news to account for the weakness. I believe they have
been suffering from the general Clinton induced malaise that the whole
medical industry is suffering from.

| Well, not to defend Clinton, but the FDA recently turning down
Synergen's drug (which nailed their stock down about 75% in value)
didn't do much for biotech issues.

| Their not really a biotech company, but I guess any stock with "bio" in
its name is getting caught in the avalanche.
They look pretty solid based on their financial statements in the 1992
annual report. Value line is predicting ~30% growth per year for the
next few years (FWIW).
Sounds like none of you has heard any bad news regarding this stock.
Must just be the Clinton effect.

| Their primarily produce supplies and materials used in reconstructive
surgery. A far cry from biotechnology.

connected to health has been hit.

That is because the medical industry has been unfairly taking advantage
of Americans for years. Rest assured that Billary will protect us
Americans from any further occurance and the Medical industry will be
put in their place where they belong.
I can sleep well knowing the government is looking out for my best
interest. FREE HEALTHCARE for EVERYONE!

399.9 | Biomet seems to be a good buy | NICCTR::BURTON | | Mon Mar 08 1993 08:49 | 30 |
| I have been an investor in Biomet ever since it went public in the 1982. In
addition, I worked in the orthopedic industry for ten years prior to coming to
Digital. The companies I worked for are direct competitors of Biomet. I can
assure you that Biomet and the whole orthopedic industry are doing very well
(25+% growth projected to 1996). Profitability is far beyond that of most
Digital products. Even if national healthcare goes into effect, the
profitability of Biomet will not go down significantly since they do so much
overseas business.
I feel the stock was carried down with the wave of biotech selling over the
last few months. Earnings are still projected to grow at 30% per year and
nothing has changed within the company to justify the downturn in stock price.
I immediately snapped up a "significant" block of stock at 11 1/4 two weeks ago
because it seemed to be such a bargain. Of course there is a downside risk
with any stock, but I figures with earnings being reported in the middle of
March, the stock could go up to the 14 - 15 range in March if earnings are
on-track with estimates. If earnings are off a little, it could drop back
to the 11-12 range. At least I'm in the money now with the stock trading
near 13 today.
The company makes artificial knees (surgically implanted type) and is a major
world-wide player in that marketplace. They make and sell some hips, and an
extensive line of reconstructive trauma devices and surgical instruments. They
are also very active in advanced materials technology for implantable
devices.
If you wish to call them to request an annual report and 10K/10Q, the number is
219-267-6639.

399.12 | Earnings on Friday | NICCTR::BURTON | | Tue Mar 16 1993 07:40 | 8 |
| Yes. The earnings were reported on Friday. The quarterly earnings were 14
cents/share versus a projected 15 cents. The stock crashed 2 points on the
news and is now in the $11-12 range. There are absolutely no signs of trouble
at the company. They just missed it by a hair and the market clobbered them.
I have not sold any shares.

399.13 | Biomet up | 25071::BURTON | LSF Product Manager | Fri Oct 29 1993 08:28 | 6 |
| The recent rise in Biomet share prices is due to a Barron's article.
Essentially, they said everyting is technically correct for this stock and
there is no reason it should be so low. The first day of trading after the
Barron's article was Monday, Oct. 25, 1993.

399.14 | here it goes.... | 25071::BURTON | LSF Product Manager | Mon Nov 01 1993 16:16 | 7 |
| Biomet is beginning to move today. A week ago, it was around 9. With the
Barrons article, it moved to 10 1/4. This afternoon, it is at 11 3/4, up 1 1/2
today on a volume of 1.6 million shares. This stock usually does 200K-400K
shares or so a day, so this is HUGE volume. There is no official news on what
is driving the movement.

| Biomet has moved up nicely in the past 15 mo. from ~$10 to $18 with most
of the gain in the past 6 mo. Earning came out at the end of Feb. and
were strong. About 2 weeks ago, the stock suddenly dropped from $18+ to
~$14-$15. Did anyone hear any news that precipitated this fall? I am
assuming, news of lower earnings was released. Any news appreciated. I
am thinking of buying some if I can get it for ~$14.
Thanks
