| re: -1
I think his newsletter is called "The Market Timer". I don't subscribe
to it. So, I dan't really have any input to it. But, if someone else in
this Notes file reads it, I'll be very interested in hearing about it.

| I have received trial copies of the "Market Timer" in the past (just call and
they will send you one). I like the format very much. It is a very small
newsletter (4-8 pages), includes market analysis etc. At the end he has 3
portfolios (young investor, middle age w/ kids, and retirees) where he makes
specific fund reccomendations such as 20% fund x, 30% fund y...
Bob is very bullish on Europe, Asia and Foreign emerging growth markets, and
he is currently reccomending 10% of portfolios in each of these 3 areas.
HOWEVER.... The newsletter is quite expensive. Currently about $189 for one
year of monthly newsletters and special editions.
I have been a great follower of his 3 hour talk shows (Sat & Sun on AM radio
from 4-7PM) for a couple years and am very impressed with his knowledge, style
and performance. However I haven't been able to break down and pay the $189
for the newsletter. Alot of whats in the newsletter can be learned from his
radio show, excpept the specific funds he reccomends.

232.5 | Excellent show | AKOCOA::BREEN | Bill Breen Ako2-3 244-7984 | Tue Jul 07 1992 12:57 | 21 |
| I enjoy and recommend this show. Brinker was very bullish on stocks
and predicted that the oct. 90 2375(app.) low was a great opportunity.
Later he stressed treasury bonds prior to interest dropping. I have
found his opinions to have been historically correct.
Of course, his major position is in favor of no-load funds vs
commission mutuals and favors mutual funds as the avenue to the stock
market.
An excellent show which I have recommended a number of times.
Unfortunately, those to whom I have made the recommendation being the
same who are in dire need of a show like that are again the same who
when asked later say - what was that station again (wrko boston 4-7pm
weekends).
Bill who don't have the bread to play the market these days - oh for
the halcyon days of 87 prior to the great crash and the end of the
pre 87 tax laws.

| Bob Brinker will be on the PBS "Nightly Business Report" program this
Friday (October 15) evening. I don't usually watch the NBR program.
Does anyone know when (what time) this program is on either on Channel
2 (in Boston, Mass.) or Channel 11 (in Durham, NH)?
Thanks,
Mike

NBR is on channel 44 WGBX (channel 3 on my cable) every weeknight at
6:30. It's also seen on channel 11 (NH) and channel 2 at other times
but not at 6:30.

11:00 on channel 2.

232.14 | BUY under DJ 5300? | ASDG::WATSON | Discover America | Wed May 08 1996 13:12 | 10 |
| Bob has been saying over the past couple weeks that, in his opinion,
any DJ close below 5300 would trigger a buy signal for his models.
(right now he advocates DCA a sum of money over 12 months)
It was Bob's advice that kept me 100% invested in 94 while everyone
ran for cash, and Bob that had me switch my portfolio to be heavy
on small caps in Dec95, so I tend to lean toward his advice.
So, as we close in on a <5300 DJ close, if I had extra cash right
now, I would invest it. Would you?

So if the market turns around here and shoots to the moon, never
closing below 5300 ("almost, but not quite") Bob would not claim
a buy signal had been triggered. Right?
I "bought" at today's close.

| > I "bought" at today's close.
The best timing would of been to buy at yesterdays close, given
the dow closed up +50 today (and since I believe what you buy
are s&p500 index fund shares or options, I would assume the
s&p500 moved similiarly % wise). But if the market stays in
this [up] direction ....
Haven't seen NBR yet, but skimming the DBC headlines several
things could of triggered the whiplash (ie. down sharply,
then up sharply). The dollar was a little week, which of course
helps International co.'s (ie. exports), sounds like democrats
in senate may of agreed to dole's proposed gas tax cut and
min. wage increase, and on top of that clinton said he'll sign
gas tax cut (election year politics, make the refiners richer,
the country poorer unless revenue loss is made up for with
real spending cuts, vs. playing with the books) *if* the min.
wage increase passes *1st*.
Looks like the NASDAQ still closed down 9pts however, as mirrored
by DEC stock :-) And AMEX also looks like it closed down.
DBC headline says rally was in response to a bond rally this
afternoon, which was the result of a well-bid auction on
the 10 year t-bills (up a full pt). also the long-bond
was up 31/32 at some point bringing the yield just below
that ever important 7% level.
Today also marked a historic event, 1st time both the downtick
and uptick trading rules were both used on the same day on nyse.
And today BRK class B shares were issued, priced at $1,100
(1/30th of BRK), and buffet increased #shares offered to 470,000.

232.19 | No buy triggered but still bullish! | ASDG::WATSON | Discover America | Wed May 08 1996 20:03 | 13 |
| Bob is VERY bullish on the market still. But, at levels above 5300, he
wants people to DCA into the market. I thought we might close there
today the way it was looking but...no way. So, Brinker would NOT have
put up the buy signal yet. Only on a close below 5300.
So, if it shoots the the moon, he can still claim victory because his
last outright BUY signal came in Nov 1994 when the model said BUY on a
close below 3700. And, I did. At that time there were a lot of folks
heading to cash.
Right now, the mix is 75% US and 25% International, excluding japan.
Upto 50% of the US 75% should be in small caps. I'm not complaining.
