| Hi
You can trade stock through Compuserve or Prodigy...I have prodigy
so I can't speak for Compuserve. Compuserve has 24-hour on-line
trading (for a fee) and quote services for up to 15 investments
you define. In addition, there is a personal financial section
in Prodigy that provides you will the lastest news and listing
of top stocks, mutual funds ,ect.,ect.
Last time I looked, Compuserve was charging hourly at about $12/hr.
But, I think they also have a flat rate service (?). Prodigy
charges $10/month (for 1 year's worth of service). Between myself,
and the kids (prodigy has a great kids service) I figure I save
about $70 per month with prodigy....
Both services have good investment (personal financial planning)
modules.
Good Luck

227.2 | Anyone really using CompuServe for Investing? | AUSTIN::RIST | it's all a question of when | Tue Jun 01 1993 15:21 | 22 |

Okay, so with MYM and my $8.95/mo CompuServe membership, I get
"free" quotes on my favorite stocks.
So, how can I use CompuServe better? Who uses CompuServe to
investigate stock purchases, mutual fund purchases, etc.? How do
you go about it? What services do you use and, if "extended"
services, how much does it cost and do you automate any of it (e.g.
with OZCIS)?
Does anyone keep up with the financial forums? Is it really worth
while?
Why is it that not all of the stocks for which I can obtain CUSIP
numbers have quotes available? Why do some stocks and stock funds
not seem to have CUSIP numbers (at least according to CompuServe)?
I hate squinting at the newspaper for quotes...
I'd ask these questions in the CompuServe notesfile, but I don't
sense that there are many investors over there.

| Lance,
The financial forums are excellent. There's many active and
professional traders in there. My only problem with it is that there
is too much information! It is pretty hard to access it all. I'm also
slightly embarassed to say I have had some problems as a user of the
forums. I can relate to new VAX NOTES users! But after you get good
at maneuvering around, there's a wealth of information there.
Literally.
