197.0. "What's up with the NASDAQ" by CAMONE::ZIOMEK (Pump up the TEST) Fri May 15 1992 16:11

Are there any opinions out there in regards to what will happen in
the nasdaq for the rest of the year? Some ananlysts are predicting
that the DOW can hit 3400, 3500, and some even 3800 by election time.
If you think this is true about the DOW, do think the NASDAQ will
    follow it?

The reason i'm asking is that alot of funds that are almost
exclusively tied to the NASDAQ, such as 20th Century Ultra have lost
25% of their NAV or even more since their highs late last year.

(20th Century Ultra high in January was $18.75, closed yesterday at
    $14.75)

    	Any opinions?

I'd guess the NASDAQ average stays somewhat stagnant at 550-600
for the rest of the year. This basically follows from the guess
that interest rates (and inflation, and earnings, and...) also
remain stagnant, and the overall economy continues to undergo
very slow growth. That said and done, the NASDAQ mutual funds that
are going to perform well would be ones that do their homework very
well picking stocks, and that funds that just track the average
aren't going to repeat the 1st quarter's performance. .02 kb
