182.0. ""Private Pension Plans" (again)" by MRCSSE::COLMAN () Fri May 01 1992 13:48
I entered the following note in the old INVESTING notes file and there were
no replies (except for a UK reply).
On Wednesday I attended a presentation at the Newton Mariott Hotel by "The
Money Experts." (They are on WHDH from 10AM to noon on weekdays.) and "The
New England Advisory Group" (Financial planners, lawyers, CPA's, etc. - about
75 employees in all). This time there were about 500 people in the audience
and "Private Pension Plans" are still included amongst NEAG's offerings.
Once again, has anyone heard of "Private Pension Plans?" and/or the "New
England Advisory Group?" I'd appreciate any inputs since I'm leaning toward
using NEAG to help select my investments.
Thanks again,
george

Has anyone invested in or, at least, heard of "Private Pension Plans?"
I was told yesterday that P.P.P.'s were written into law about four years
ago ("Section 7702" of something or other) and that the projected return
is related to risk, something like it is in Digital's SAVE plan.
The KEY difference, IF what I was told is true, is that an investment in
a "Private Pension Plan" can be liquidated at any time and that the
accumulated earnings are TAX FREE.
The investment is made by writing a check to one of a number of LARGE
insurance companies (via a middleman?), thereby participating in a
portfolio consisting of mutual funds, zero based bonds, etc.
Sounds too good to be true.
