| There is a difference between sales tax and protperty excise tax.
The sales tax (a one time charge) at purchase is not deductible.
The property excise tax (part of registration, usually) is deductible.

That depends on several things, so it varies by geography. I don't remember
the details, but it depends on whether the tax varies with value or not. So
you may need to look it up.

| .-1 may be correct. Here in WA, car registration has about 4
different charges. One of them (the lions share) is an excise
tax based on the cars value. In my case, this is the charge
which IS deductible.
