32.0. "America West Airlines/NASDAQ" by JUPITR::KWILSON (Just plane crazy) Thu Jan 30 1992 19:50

I am wondering what happened to one of the stocks I own that
is (or should I say was) listed on NASDAQ. It's America West
Airlines (AWAL) and I haven't seen it listed for at least a
week. They have been in chapter 11 for around 6 months and
just before they apparently disappeared from the daily listing,
the stock had seen a significant increase in the price.

I know I could just call a broker but I thought I'd see if
anyone here also owns them...I bought at $9.25 and have watched
it dip below $1.00. Prior to the vanishing act, it had went from
under a buck to over $2.00, making me wish I had bought more to
    cover my losses.

    Thanks for any input,
    Keith

For some time the symbol for America West Airlines has been AWAQC.

In the interval between Jan 13 and Jan 20 It moved from
the NASDAQ National Market System to the NASDAQ Supplemental List.

Stocks move from NMS to the "bid" market when the number of shares
outstanding, the number of shareholders, the trading volume, etc.
drops below the minimum for NMS.

Hmmm, that's really weird since during the recent upswing in price
the volume was quite high for this stock, trading in the hundred
thousands of shares. The little "vj" in front of their name had made
it rather easy to find and while I did see them in the supplemental
list maybe a week ago, I haven't seen them there for about a week.
In today's Boston Globe their earnings were listed, or should I say
how much they lost in the past quarter, so maybe I'll see them a bit
    more often.

Thanks for the reply on the symbol change. As you can probably tell,
I'm not a seasoned veteran in this field as other than DEC, it's the
only stock I own. After I bought it (rather blindly) I was tracking it
on the AMEX as there is a stock with listed as AMWEST and to make
matters, worse, the price was the same at the time. I sure learned a
    (relatively) inexpensive lesson...

Their stock above $3 now. What's happening? Does anyone have
any articles or news column to share with us? Are they coming out
of Ch 11?
