BASKING RIDGE, N.J., March 24 /PRNewswire/ via Individual Inc. -- Following
successful pilots with Hoffmann-La Roche and INCO Limited, ZYGA Corporation
today announced the commercial release of Component Engineering
Methodology(TM) (CEM) for Data Warehousing. CEM for Client/Server
Applications was released in 1995.
"The development time and costs of most data warehousing projects are
astronomical because developers keep re-inventing the wheel," said Rick
Hall, vice president, ZYGA Corporation. "CEM -- a proven methodology --
provides a step-by-step approach to designing and implementing data
warehouses while taking advantage of reusable and packaged software
components."
CEM users design and assemble data warehouse systems comprised of
components. The process starts by identifying the project's business
objectives, after which a corresponding set of components are defined for
the entire system. The methodology allows for flexible support for each
component: off-the-shelf, customized and reusable software. Finally, the
entire system is assembled from the component building blocks.
"CEM addresses another re-inventing the wheel issue; the common and
repetitive practices that are consistent in core business functions such as
financial analysis and customer marketing," said Bill Sheleg, chief
technology officer, ZYGA. "Based on 15 years of working with major
corporations, ZYGA has established a library of reusable components that
address recurring business problems."
"ZYGA is 'publishing' the CEM methodology for $49.95 to share our ideas and
create an intellectual dialogue in the data warehousing industry," said
Hall. "The Gartner Group's assessment of ZYGA's CEM as going 'considerably
further than most development methodologies' positions CEM as a 'best in
class' methodology." For more information and to download CEM software,
visit ZYGA's Web site at (http://www.zyga.com).
CEM supports object-oriented techniques and the Capability Maturity Model
(CMM) allows users to accelerate through levels one to five of the CMM. CEM
for Data Warehousing is an online hypertext product that describes the
tasks, components and guidelines for building a data warehouse or a data
mart. Total Quality Management (TQM) is integrated into each stage of the
CEM methodology.
