Reliant Data Systems Announces World's First True Codeless Data
Migration Software; Breakthrough Tool Reduces Data Migration Costs By
90%, Simplifies Application Conversion, Data Warehousing and Data
Cleansing Projects

AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE) via Individual Inc. -- Reliant Data
Systems Inc., a pioneer in the data migration market, today announced
the introduction of DCLE (Data Conversion Language Engine, pronounced
"diesel"), the world's first true codeless data migration tool.

By eliminating the time-consuming and error-prone manual coding
previously required to move data from one platform and database format
to another, DCLE can reduce data conversion project costs by up to
90%. Data migration is a key technology component for a number of
major IT markets, including large-scale application conversion, data
warehousing and data cleansing projects.

DCLE is a multi-user, object-oriented, platform-independent and
database-independent tool that allows users to convert data from
virtually any format and platform to virtually any other format and
platform. DCLE users work in a GUI-based SQL-like environment to
define the source and target environments, and the transformations
necessary to migrate data between them.

The sophisticated DCLE conversion engine is responsible for executing
the actual migration process. Unlike current tool alternatives, which
are designed to simply enhance the programming process, DCLE requires
no custom programming.

First Effective Tool That Addresses Growing Data Migration
Requirements

According to Wayne Eckerson of the Patricia Seybold Group: "The market
for data migration is enormous and broad. While there are substantial
data migration requirements for a broad range of application areas,
there are no effective tools which address this requirement. In fact,
a majority of companies simply use armies of COBOL programmers for the
task, while most of the tools they use simply automate the programming
process. DCLE offers a new approach to data migration. We believe
Reliant may change the buy/build ratio for many companies engaging in
large data conversion projects."

"A vast amount of demand exists for a cost-effective solution to data
migration requirements," said Russ Caccamisi, president and CEO of
Reliant. "Data migration plays a critical role in a wide range of
large-scale enterprise IT projects, including the conversion of legacy
applications to distributed platforms, data warehousing and data
cleansing in conjunction with, but not limited to, those represented
by Year 2000 projects. Regardless of whether data conversion and
migration is a one-time or ongoing process, it represents a major cost
for many companies."

By eliminating the need for custom programming that historically has
been needed to complete such tasks, DCLE dramatically reduces the time
and costs associated with the data migration component of a major IT
project, and in doing so, simplifies the overall project.

DCLE Users

TeleService Resources Inc. (TSR), a sister company to American
Airlines, and a division of AMR, is in the hotel reservations and
inventory business. TSR recently expanded their customer service
offering by deploying a new central reservation system, using the DCLE
migration tool to transfer data to the new architecture.

"The DCLE engine has allowed us to migrate each hotel's booking and
inventory records from the old legacy system to this new system in a
matter of days rather than weeks. This results in a 75% saving in
time, which enables us to migrate more information for our clients,"
said Stephen Webb, director of marketing at TeleService Resources.
"DCLE took all the C code-writing out of the migration process, and
allowed us to move sizeable data files and merge them into the new
database, and also solved a potential Year 2000 problem. The new
system provides our customers the extra capabilities of running
audits, checking statistics, and validating their data."

Capital Metro, a transportation company based in Austin, Texas, is a
beta user of the DCLE tool.

"As transportation providers, we rely on optimized automation tools to
ensure the public has access to our continually updated schedule and
service information," said Mark Xavier, IT manager at Capital Metro.
"The DCLE migration tool will enable us to cleanse, modify and move
data in and out of the data warehouse, where it is then uploaded to
our Web site. Open architecture tools are a criteria in leveraging our
development, and the DCLE tool's platform and database-independence is
important to us."

For Virtual Resources Inc., leading network engineering and consulting
service providers, DCLE complements their offering in two ways. It
provides their clients with an outsourcing service for data
warehousing, using the DCLE engine for data cleansing, and migrating
data across disparate platforms. Additionally, Virtual Resources uses
DCLE in their own network.

"DCLE is a value-added service that we can offer with our nationwide
ATM backbone, and it's a product we can sell to our end-user clients
with our professional services wrapped around it. It's a perfect fit,"
said Dan Van Dresser, head of marketing at Virtual Resources.

Breakthrough Data Migration Technology

Unlike other data migration tools which simply expedite outdated
manual extraction processes, DCLE not only migrates the data, but also
performs sophisticated transformation, manipulation and cleansing of
the data as a portion of the overall migration. DCLE's SQL-like
command syntax allows users to perform any number of translations
during migration.

The incorporation of a SQL-like interface also provides a
substantially condensed training curve for new DCLE users. The data
cleansing capabilities of DCLE allow users significant power and
flexibility to determine their specific data cleansing processes.

DCLE Connect, a Microsoft Windows/Windows 95 system interface allows
users to begin the conversion process in hours versus days or weeks.
Relationships between the source and target environments can be
created using point-and-click operations, or as an alternative, a
command line interface.

In addition, Reliant's innovative Virtual Workgroup technology enables
multiple geographically dispersed users to access DCLE on a network,
through a dial-up connection, or via an Internet connection from a
range of workstations. This feature allows for these multiple users to
work on a single migration project as if they were in the same
location, and in a secure and protected manner.

Practical Details

DCLE is available immediately. The software runs on the Solaris,
HP/UX, AIX and Windows NT operating systems. DCLE Connect is available
for Windows 95 and Windows NT. Other client systems can access DCLE
through a Telnet connection. The software is priced using an
industry-first "value-based" licensing model that takes into account a
customer's exact requirements for the use of DCLE.

The number of copies, number of sites, scope of the migration
project(s), and timeframe are considered in the derivation. For
instance, a perpetual, ten-user, multi-project site license is
approximately $200,000. This includes documentation, training, and one
year of software updates and support.
