BOULDER, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE) via Individual Inc. -- Spectra Logic Corp.
announced today an agreement with Digital Equipment Corporation (NYSE: DEC)
which provides an integrated solution for high-performance backup of
mission-critical databases on networked Digital AlphaServer systems.
Digital is offering a powerful solution for high-speed backup based on
compact rackmounted AlphaServers running Digital UNIX packaged with IBM's
3590 tape drives and Spectra Logic's Alexandria software. Alexandria is
capable of fully exploiting the speed of the 3590 drives and the latest
DLT7000/TZ89 drive technology. A wide range of configurations are supported
and include 'hot' database backup, various tape libraries, and a multitude
of network client types.
This agreement brings to the forefront the critical role for high-speed
backup and recovery in maintaining 24x7 very large databases (VLDB).
