PeerLogic, DIGITAL team up to expand messaging options
PeerLogic, Inc., a leading provider of scalable distributed
computing solutions, and DIGITAL today announced they will enable inter-
operability between their respective messaging products, PeerLogic's
PIPES Platform and DIGITAL's DECmessageQ.
This interoperability initiative is currently in development, and
is expected to be available by late 1997.
"This agreement between PeerLogic and DIGITAL signals that the
messaging software industry is becoming more user-driven. For many
customers, the combination of the unique features offered by DIGITAL
and PeerLogic provides a complete messaging communications
infrastructure for their business-critical applications," said Sally
Cusack, senior analyst, Standish Group.
Under the terms of the agreement, DIGITAL will develop and
distribute a DECmessageQ V4.0/4.1 link driver for PIPES Platform on the
DIGITAL UNIX, HP-UX, AIX, Solaris, and Microsoft Windows NT (Intel and
Alpha) platforms. The new link driver will enable DECmessageQ customers
to access the dynamic PIPES Platform messaging communications system
from within DECmessageQ.
Additionally, PeerLogic will port PIPES Platform to the DIGITAL
UNIX operating environment on the DIGITAL Alpha platform. The link
drivers are expected to be available from DIGITAL as part of the
DECmessageQ product line at no additional cost.
PIPES Platform, PeerLogic's flagship product, is distributed
system software for the development and deployment of real-time
applications operating in today's dynamic networking environments. It
enables communications between complex multi-tier and peer-to-peer
application components through reliable, high-speed messaging. It is
the only messaging product that automatically creates and maintains a
logical view of the network that is fault-tolerant and self-healing.
