Data General announces NT Data Mart Solution

WESTBORO, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE) via Individual Inc. -- Data General today
announced the availability of a comprehensive NT-based Data Mart Solution.
Best-of-breed products supporting Data Mart/Data Warehousing creation,
web-centric data access and reporting tools, and OLAP tools for data mining
and analysis are provided in this solution.
This extensive program is targeted at customers considering Microsoft's NT
as their strategic platform for deployment of a Data Mart and/or Data
Warehousing in market sectors such as finance, marketing, sales,
manufacturing and healthcare. This NT Data Mart solution provides a cost
effective timely implementation of a functional data warehouse to solve
business information needs.

program is truly a collaborative effort with a number of software vendors.
The second is that the entire solution has been tested by our integration
engineers. This involved loading the Informix OnLine Dynamic Server
database with MetaCube 3.0 and Vmark's DataStage product for the warehouse
creation, along the various access tools to ensure they worked together.

The products and tools are being made available through Data General's
Professional Services. Data Stage from Vmark Software is an NT-based
environment that allows data extraction from multiple sources (flat files,
relational and multi-dimensional), cleansing, transformation, and meta data
management. DataSite from NetScheme is a web-centric data access and
reporting tool that utilizes standard browsers for data query and mining
with all SQL queries automatically generated. MetaCube 3.0 from Informix is
an Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) tool. These tools combined with the
Data General AViiON hardware, Informix OnLine dynamic Server (ODS) and NT
operating system provide a cost effective solution that will benefit any
organization.
To demonstrate the benefits of data mart technology, Data General and
Informix will hold a three-day series of breakfast seminars in New York,
Chicago and Dallas, June 4, 5, and 6. These seminars provide attendees with
an overview of a data mart and describe how organizations can use them to
