Oracle Consulting Services(SM) Delivers Proven Approach for Implementing
Enterprise Data Warehousing Solutions Implementation Methodology Maintains
Oracle's Leadership <>

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Date: Tuesday, March 18, 1997
Source: PR Newswire
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif., March 17 /PRNewswire/ via Individual Inc. -- Oracle
Consulting Services(SM) today announced a comprehensive approach for
implementing enterprise data warehousing solutions. The approach
encompasses a proven methodology developed by its Warehouse Consulting
Services practice working directly with major customers worldwide.

Designed to minimize risk, provide the quickest results and reduce
development costs, the data warehouse approach implemented by Oracle
Consulting Services' includes the following:

* Scoping Services

* Technical Architecture Services

* Warehouse Infrastructure Services

* Warehouse Business Solutions Services

These services were developed during the course of successful data
warehousing implementations for companies in most major industries,
including consumer goods, financial services, retail and
telecommunications.

"Oracle is the number one player in delivering data warehousing solutions,"
said Jnan Dash, vice president, Advanced Technologies and Strategy, Oracle
Consulting Services. "Our Warehouse Consulting Services tie together
Oracle's leading server and OLAP technology services and a proven track
record of implementing major data warehousing solutions under a single
source of accountability. No one else is in a position to offer the same
solution scope."

Scoping Services

Important to the success of any data warehousing project, Oracle Consulting
Services' Scoping Services help customers identify business strategies,
objectives, priorities and critical information for their data warehousing
projects. An initial proof of concept project is outlined to validate
assumptions, assess risk factors, change management issues, and identify
business process reengineering efforts that may be needed to address the
business requirements of the warehouse.

Technical Architecture Services

Immediately following or in conjunction with the scoping study, Oracle
Consulting Services evaluates the customer's hardware, software, data and
network technical architectures for their ability to support the needs of
the data warehouse. This comprehensive phase addresses all the critical
technical issues related to implementing an enterprise data warehouse. From
the evaluation Oracle consultants design an integration strategy to
preserve investment in and maximize the use of the customer's existing
systems. Strategies for load, warehouse, and query management are also
developed, and data extraction and end-user access tools are evaluated.
Additional plans cover security and access control, backup and recovery,
and archiving and restoring data. The services also include a risk
assessment that details likely technical issues of the data warehouse
implementation over the long term.

The implementation approach then takes two paths to develop the subsequent
infrastructure and business phases.

Warehouse Infrastructure Services

Once the project is underway, Oracle Consulting Services manages all
aspects of Very Large Database (VLDB) design, load management, metadata
management, warehouse management, query management, performance tuning,
hardware/networking evaluation, and tools set up.

Warehouse Business Solutions Services

Throughout the implementation, Oracle Consulting Services works closely
with end-users to identify and gather critical information for the data
warehouse. Business issues are identified, relevant source data (and any
necessary conversions) are located and extracted, results are validated,
summarization strategies are recommended, loads are monitored, and purging
requirements are determined. Oracle consultants also implement OLAP and
other application tools for the end user community.

Oracle Consulting Services' comprehensive approach and methodology for data
warehousing, combined with Oracle's leading warehouse technology and
third-party partner offerings, provides a powerful end-to-end data
warehousing solution that is unparalleled in the industry.

With more than 8,000 consultants in over 50 countries, Oracle Consulting
Services offers services and solutions including electronic commerce,

Oracle Delivers Integrated, Easily Installed Data Mart Solutions For
Windows NT World's Leading Data Warehouse Vendor Provides Customers With
Everything <>

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Date: Tuesday, April 1, 1997
Source: PR Newswire
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif., Mar. 31 /PRNewswire/ via Individual Inc. -- Oracle
Corp. (Nasdaq: ORCL) today unveiled a complete data mart solution, to be
delivered first on Windows NT, that includes in one package, the database,
software, tools and data mart-specific documentation and training
businesses need to be more competitive by letting them take advantage of
business intelligence. Oracle's complete, integrated solution enables
customers to deploy data marts faster and at less expense than competitors'
less comprehensive and costly solutions. Oracle data marts enable companies
to delve into business patterns and trends to help guide strategic and
tactical decisions.

Oracle, the proven leader in the data warehouse market, is leveraging its
industry-leading technology to deliver two Data Mart Suites, providing
customers with everything they need to deploy data marts on the Windows NT
platform. The suites provide Line-of-Business (LoB) users such as
financial, sales and marketing departments, the ability to solve critical
problems such as determining customer profitability, tracking sales and
marketing performance, and deciding in which direction to take their
business.

The Oracle data mart solution initially consists of two product suites:
Oracle(R) Data Mart Suite and Oracle(R) Data Mart Suite-Sales & Marketing.
The Oracle(R) Data Mart Suite built on the industries most widely used
database for data warehousing integrates: a visual tool for designing the
data mart; an easy-to-use graphical tool for extracting information from
operational systems; a high performance, scaleable database which serves as
a shared repository for both data and metadata; a Web server for intranet
access to the data mart; a new-generation querying, reporting and analysis
tool; and web-based documentation and tutorials.

The Oracle(R) Data Mart Suite-Sales & Marketing provides sales and
marketing LoBs with a packaged solution containing out-of-the-box sales and
marketing know-how. This first of its kind solution for data marts
integrates sophisticated analysis applications that help determine which of
the company's products are selling, where and why. Both suites offer easy
installation, enabling each to be up-and-running within an hour. Included
with the suites is hands-on classroom training, using a real-life case
study, giving customers a proven methodology to go from start to data mart.

Both of Oracle's data marts suites will be available on Windows NT running
on Intel platforms. Based on its best performing database on NT, Oracle's
integrated solutions-which will also be available on popular UNIX
platforms, HP-UX, IBM-AIX and Sun Solaris-will provide fully integrated,
easy-to-deploy data marts that optimize investments in Windows NT and UNIX
servers.

Systems integrator Tapestry Computing develops data marts for companies
needing to analyze customer, sales, financial and marketing information.
According to Tapestry's vice president of sales and marketing, Jim Eberlin,
Oracle's data mart product suites provide an integrated solution that will
help speed up the data mart development process.

"Companies depend on data marts to gain a quick competitive advantage. The
faster they can implement a data mart and begin analyzing data, the sooner
they can make business decisions based on that information," said Eberlin.
"Oracle's new data mart suite provides an integrated, solution that will
help reduce the time it takes to build data marts by about 30 percent,
enabling customers to begin analyzing their information and gain value from
their analysis quicker. Regardless of the amount of information companies
have in their data marts, Oracle provides a range of analysis tools-from
high-level analysis to ad hoc query and reporting-to meet all their
analysis needs in one packaged solution."

Tapestry is using Oracle's new data mart products for its customer, St.
Louis, Mo.-based Mercantile Bank, to help users more easily access
information pertaining to Mercantile's credit card business. The more than
$1 billion credit card issuer will collect information from various sources
and load it into the data mart, providing users with one place to directly
access all the information they need to develop effective business
strategies. This quick access to its valuable information will provide
Mercantile with an advantage in the competitive credit card industry.

"Strategically it is important for Mercantile to implement a data mart to
help us remain successful. There's a lot of competition in the credit card
business, and the winners and losers will be decided based on how
effectively people use their data to manage their business. The companies
that do survive will be those that can effectively analyze their customer
information to help them make good business decisions," said Bob Myers,
assistant vice president of Mercantile Bank.

Mapping Proven, Core Technology into Data Mart Suites

Oracle's data marts are based on its proven, core products, including its
scaleable relational database, its Relational On-Line Analytical Processing
(ROLAP) multidimensional calculation engine, and its On-Line Analytical
Processing (OLAP) tools. The company also has a source code licensing
agreement with Sagent Technology, Inc. to integrate the Sagent's data
extraction, transformation and transportation (ETT) tool into its data
marts. This integration will help customers put operational data into an
efficient structure so they can access the data for analysis.

Osco Enterprises, a $10 million car wash equipment supply company, has a
data mart running on Windows NT that includes Oracle Express Analyzer and
Discoverer 3.0. The company implemented the data mart in 30 days, and was
immediately able to begin analyzing its inventory, sales and profitability
information within two hours of going live. In just two months, the company
has seen an increase in sales as a direct result of the analysis it
conducts using the data mart.

"In our business we have to make decisions daily about whether we can give
customers discounts on our car wash systems. Our data mart enables us to
quickly analyze how different discounts will affect our overall
profitability. This insight has allowed us to go into companies with a
lower quote than the competition, enabling us to capture more business,"
said Brian Wandersee, president of Osco Enterprises.

"Our data warehousing experience, combined with proven scaleable
technology, broad-based tools and applications, makes us the strongest
contender in the data mart market. While many companies have announced data
mart strategies, few have delivered a fully integrated, easy-to-use
solution. We are the only company with tools that can handle any size data
to provide customers with data marts that have different levels of analysis
capabilities to help them make better business decisions," said Jerry Held,
senior vice president of server technologies at Oracle.

Oracle(R) Data Mart Suite

The Oracle(R) Data Mart Suite includes:

* Oracle(R) Data Mart Designer-a customized version of the award wining
Oracle(R) Designer/2000, reengineers the structure of source databases and
provides a graphical tool to design the data mart-in a metadata repository
which is shared with Oracle(R) Data Mart Builder and Oracle(R) Discoverer.

* Oracle(R) Data Mart Builder-allows the design of the mapping and
transformations from sources to the data mart. Oracle Data Mart Builder
provides a repository for storing metadata and an extraction transformation
load engine that populates the data mart.

* Oracle7 Enterprise Server-manages the data mart's information. Oracle7's
parallel query capability optimizes performance on both shared and
non-shared hardware, and its bit-mapped index capability quickly processes
queries across large databases.

* Oracle(R) WebServer-provides a scaleable, secure, Web application
platform that works with all popular browsers. Included is the Oracle(R)
Web Request Broker which also provides integration with web servers from
Netscape and Microsoft.

* Oracle(R) Discoverer 3.0-an easy-to-use ad hoc query, reporting and
analysis tool that delivers immediate access to information using a
step-by- step wizard interface.

Oracle(R) Data Mart Suite-Sales & Marketing

The Oracle(R) Data Mart Suite-Sales & Marketing provides sales and
marketing departments with an integrated solution for analyzing trends,
marketing campaign profitability, product life cycles and promotional
effectiveness. The Sales & Marketing suite includes all the components of
the Oracle Data Mart Suite, as well as the following components:

* Oracle(R) Sales Analyzer-makes large amounts of data manageable through
reports and graphs, while allowing users to drill down and query with
point- and-click tools. Sales Analyzer also supports exception reporting,
enabling users to ask questions such as, "What are my worst and best
performing products this quarter in the Midwest?" and, "Who are the sales
people in the East who performed 15 percent or more above quota last year?"
Sales Analyzer includes out-of-the-box sales and marketing expertise and a
powerful calculation engine, and supports mobile or disconnected users.

* ROLAP Option-provides powerful analysis without administrative
complexity. With Oracle's ROLAP option, customers can perform sophisticated
analysis without having to replicate data into a separate multi-dimensional
database.

Availability and Pricing

Oracle's Data Mart Suites will be available on Windows NT in May. The
suites are expected to ship on popular UNIX platforms in the second half of
1997. Oracle(R) Data Mart Suite is priced at $39,500 in the U.S.; Oracle(R)
Data Mart Suite - Sales and Marketing is priced at $99,500 in the U.S.
Oracle Corporation is the world's leading supplier of software for
information management, and the world's second largest software company.
With annual revenues exceeding $5.2 billion, the company offers its
database, tools and application products, along with related consulting,
education and support services, in more than 90 countries around the world.

Oracle(R) Data Mart Suites-Better Decisions Made Simple(TM) Data Warehouse
Leader Provides Industry's Most Comprehensive Solution For Building and
Deploying Data Marts on Windows NT and UNIX

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Date: Tuesday, April 1, 1997
Source: PR Newswire
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif., March. 31 /PRNewswire/ via Individual Inc. --
Oracle Corp. announced today its strategy to deliver a competitive
advantage for the Line-of-Business (LoB) by offering its very low cost,
fully integrated, easy-to-install and use data mart suite solution. Since
its introduction in June of 1995, Oracle Warehouse has rocketed to more
than 50% of all data warehouse implementations, according to a recent META
Group report. Leveraging its unprecedented success in data warehousing,
Oracle extends its offering to empower the LoBs through the introduction of
Oracle(R) Data Mart Suites.

"Businesses demand quick and easy access to actionable information. They
can't afford to miss windows of opportunity," said Peter Kastner, vice
president at Aberdeen Group. "The data mart market is a crowded one that
has for some time now needed a leader like Oracle, with all its decision
support experience and technology, to drive data mart technology to the
mass market with simplicity, low cost of ownership, scalability and
integration."

Leveraging its industry-leading Oracle7 database, optimized for decision
support, Oracle integrates: a visual tool for designing the data mart; an
easy-to-use graphical tool for extracting information from operational
systems and data warehouses; a high performance, scaleable database which
serves as a shared repository for both data and metadata; a Web server for
intranet access to the data mart; a new-generation querying, reporting and
analysis tool; and Web-based documentation and tutorials.

Government deregulation in nearly every industry, such as
telecommunications, banking, insurance and utilities, has created the
greatest opportunity in modern history for companies to seek top-line
growth. While other vendors attempt to address the needs of only solution
builders, Oracle has fundamentally changed the way corporations will
implement decision support technology by offering the world's first
packaged solution for data warehousing. Based on extensive research and
customer feedback, Oracle has first chosen to address the sales and
marketing LoB, empowering them with out- of-the-box sales and marketing
know-how enabling them to make the best strategic decisions for their
companies.

Data Marts and Data Warehouses-Important Differences

Both data marts and data warehouses are necessary for companies needing a
competitive edge. Data warehouses are multi-subject information stores
designed specifically for decision support. This integration of information
facilitates a corporate view of the entire business across all LoBs. A
common set of business measures, necessary for a successful data warehouse,
enables cross LoB comparisons of key business metrics.

A data mart is a subject-specific or application-specific LoB data
warehouse that contains highly-focused data specific to a department or
individual LoB, such as sales, marketing or finance. As organizations
decentralize and in turn empower the LoB, the popularity of data marts has
grown. Competition and the need for customer responsiveness has
additionally caused corporations to distribute decision making closer to
the point of customer contact, such as loan approval at the branch, or
merchandising decisions related to local preferences made at the store
level.

Oracle(R) Data Mart Suite-Complete and Integrated

Other vendors have rushed to market with unintegrated, incomplete packages.
Oracle offers customers a true suite that is complete and pre- integrated
with all the software needed to quickly and simply implement a data mart.
Banks are using data marts to better evaluate and target potential credit
card customers; telecommunications companies are building data marts to
accurately identify customer needs, create better service offerings,
increase customer loyalty and reduce churn rates; and consumer packaged
goods companies are deploying data marts to evaluate which products are
selling the best in specific locations, and to more effectively execute
sales and marketing campaigns.

"Oracle's Data Mart Suites will empower line of business managers to make
quick and effective business decisions, leveraging the strategic value of
their data," said Jerry Held, senior vice president of Oracle Server
Technologies. "Small to mid-sized companies and divisions within larger
corporations need decision support tools such as those used in large-scale
data warehouses. To meet those needs, Oracle has designed its data mart
solutions to provide a complete, integrated, easy-to-install, pre-packaged
solution that is aggressively priced, leveraging our proven technology
leadership, data warehousing expertise and partner support."

Extraction Transformation and Transportation (ETT)-A Key Requirement for

an Integrated and Complete Data Mart Suite

Oracle recently source-code licensed ETT technology from Sagent Technology,
Inc. Critical to a successful data mart deployment, ETT technology
facilitates the movement and loading of data from operational source
systems and data warehouses to the data mart. Backed by a full team of
developers and supported by Oracle World Wide Support, Oracle has fully
integrated this technology into its Data Mart Suites, and will continue to
develop and enhance the product.

"Sagent understands the competitive edge that data marts deliver to
companies looking to leverage one of their key assets-information," said
Ken Gardner, president and chief executive officer at Sagent Technology.
"Our ETT technology tightly integrated in Oracle's Data Mart Suites will
provide line- of-business users the leading solution to quickly and easily
optimize their investment in decision support."

Industry Endorsements

Oracle's Data Mart Suites have received broad support from Oracle's
Warehouse Technology Initiative (WTI) partners and other third-party
vendors. The suites have been endorsed by several of the industry's leading
hardware vendors, including Compaq, Hewlett-Packard, Unisys, Data General
and Digital. These vendors will offer Oracle's software suites integrated
with appropriate hardware systems to accelerate joint customer
implementation. (See related release: Industry's Leading Hardware Vendors
Endorse Oracle's Data Mart Suites)

"Oracle's data mart software running on Intel architecture-based standard
high-volume (SHV) servers offers outstanding price/performance and
scalability to meet local decision support needs in businesses of all
sizes," said John Miner, vice president and general manager of Intel's
Enterprise Server group. "Effective deployment of fast, affordable and
reliable data mart solutions on SHV servers will help businesses realize
the competitive advantage that information technology has to offer."

"One challenge associated with implementing data marts is establishing an
adequate context and plan for this technology. Through its Warehouse
Technology Initiative, Oracle links its customers with firms like KPMG that
can provide the skills and assistance necessary to avoid this problem,"
said Ed Vitalos of KPMG, a participating member in this program.

Oracle's Data Mart Suites Lead the Way on NT

Oracle was the first database vendor to support Windows NT and has quickly
gained market acceptance. According to an IDC study, market share of the
Oracle7 database on Windows NT increased from 2.6 percent in 1994 to 24.8
percent in 1995. With its entire product line running on Windows NT, more
than 600 shipping partner applications, Oracle offers the premier
information management solution for Windows NT. (For more information about
Oracle on NT, visit (URL) http://www.oracle.com/NT).

Oracle Education and Consulting Services

Oracle's data mart strategy will receive additional support from Oracle
Education and Oracle Consulting, whose global organizations will help train
customers and design real-world business implementations for customers
requiring additional expertise.

Oracle Education will recommend the right combination of training to meet
customer requirements and optimize resources. Oracle Consulting will draw
on hundreds of successful data warehousing implementations across many
industries, including telecommunications, retail, financial services and
consumer packaged goods, to offer customers a focused approach for data
mart implementation.

Oracle's data mart strategy is based on its Network Computing
Architecture(TM) (NCA), which provides the foundation for database
extensibility and tight product integration. NCA is the fulfillment of
Oracle's vision for network computing, allowing any Network Computer, PC or
other client device to interact with any Web server or database server over
any network.

Oracle Corporation is the world's leading supplier of software for
information management, and the world's second largest software company.
With annual revenues exceeding $5.2 billion, the company offers its
database, tools and application products, along with related consulting,
education and support services, in more than 90 countries around the world.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif., April 9 /PRNewswire/ via Individual Inc. -- Oracle
Corp.(Nasdaq: ORCL) today announced that Oracle and Sun have submitted a
record TPC-C benchmark result of more than 23,000 transactions per minute
(tpmC), beating recently announced Informix results of 15,500 using the
same model Sun server, processor speed and operating system. The results
also top Sybase's previous high for a single-server benchmark result by 25
percent, and dwarf Microsoft's peak performance of 8,070 transactions per
minute on a Compaq system.

"Oracle(R) Universal Server is the fastest and most reliable database on
the market today bar none," said Jerry Held, senior vice president of
Oracle Server Technologies. "Oracle not only delivers the best price
performance for medium to large systems, it's the only unified environment
for managing universal data for any application type over a variety of
networks and system configurations."

Oracle's Transaction Performance Council audited benchmark was achieved
running Oracle7 Release 7.3 on 16-processor Sun Ultra Enterprise 6000
server. In addition to unprecedented transaction speed, Oracle's flagship
database delivered a winning price/performance ratio for medium to large
systems. Its $118/tpmC price-performance sets a new standard for systems
above four processors.

The TPC-C benchmark simulates a complete computing environment where a
population of terminal operators execute transactions against a database.
The benchmark is centered around transaction activities in an order-entry
environment. TPC-C involves a mix of five concurrent transactions of
different types and complexity executed either on-line or queued for
deferred execution. The database is comprised of nine types of records with
a wide range of record and population sizes. For more information about
TPC-C benchmarks and results, please refer to the Transaction Performance
Council Web site at (URL) http://www.tpc.org./

Oracle's full house - Tool to simplify data warehousing

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Date: Tuesday, May 6, 1997
Source: InfoWorld
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

InfoWorld via Individual Inc. : Looking to bolster its position in the
data-warehouse arena, Oracle is preparing a tool that promises to simplify
designing, building, and maintaining data warehouses running on top of its
core database technology, sources close to the company said.

The Oracle Applications Data Warehouse (OADW) is expected to be available
in a controlled release in May. With this tool, customized data warehouses
can be built to integrate with Oracle applications such as consumer
packaged goods or retail goods. OADW runs on an Oracle7 database and
includes client- and server-side components. Pricing has not been set.

In generating warehouses, OADW identifies data sources, transformations,
and warehouse elements. OADW shares a meta data model with the Oracle
Express online analytical processing (OLAP) server so that Express can be
snapped into an OADW-driven warehouse. However, Express is not a required
component for warehouses built with OADW.

OADW supports the meta-data framework of the Express relational access
manager, which manages communications and query generation from Express
into a relational data store.

Oracle's new tool appears similar to some functions of the company's
Designer 2000 development tool, but, nonetheless, it could be more useful
for data- warehouse applications, said analyst Wayne Eckerson, director of
business intelligence and data warehouses at the Patricia Seybold Group, in
Boston.

"It provides functionality that users will find they need if they're doing
a lot of these warehouses," Eckerson said. "Otherwise, it's a manual
process of manually entering in the meta data and keeping track of
transformations."

But although OADW is an advance for Oracle, the company is playing catch-up
to some of its smaller rivals.

Prism Solutions, for example, has a tool called Prism Warehouse Executive,
which automates the process of designing and building a warehouse,
including data extraction and loading of targets. The product is bundled
with the Prism Warehouse Directory meta-data repository and costs from
$50,000 for Windows NT to $225,000 for a large Unix or mainframe system.

This spring Sybase plans to ship Warehouse Architect for designing and
building warehouses and data marts and for mapping source and warehouse
data for cleansing, extraction, and query.

Informatica this month will ship PowerCapture, a middleware tool for
linking distributed data marts built using its PowerMart offerings.

In a warehouse-related move, Oracle is planning to Web-enable its Express
Objects development environment for building OLAP applications, according
to Oracle. This would allow deployment of Express Objects in a Web
environment.

Oracle(R) Universal Server Spatial Data Option Now Available on Windows
NT(TM) Leading Spatial Vendors Endorse Move to Rapidly Growing Windows NT
Platform

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Date: Tuesday, May 13, 1997
Source: PR Newswire
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif., May 12 /PRNewswire/ via Individual Inc. -- Leading
spatial application vendors, including Intergraph and Bentley Systems, are
endorsing today's announcement by Oracle Corp. of the immediate
availability of the next generation of spatial database technology,
Oracle(R) Universal Server Spatial Data option release 7.3.3, on Windows NT
version 4.0. Oracle is the first software provider to bring true
enterprise-level spatial data management capabilities to the NT
environment.

Oracle Spatial Data option, shipping as an option to Oracle(R) Universal
Server since 1995, extends the Oracle database server with the ability to
store, manage, index and analyze geographic and locational data. Through
the Oracle Spatial Data option, Oracle(R) Universal Server provides native
support of geographically referenced data, allowing geographic information
such as maps, drawings, referenced images and associated tabular data to be
stored inside a relational database.

"Unlike approaches that simply store map images without analytical
capabilities, Oracle Spatial Data option is designed for serious business
and government applications," comments Jim Steiner, senior marketing
director, Server Technologies at Oracle. "Maps are always compelling to
look at, but true GIS systems demand that the database server store spatial
geometry, have spatial indexing, provide spatial operators and deliver
accurate and reliable results to spatial queries."

Oracle application partners have also announced support for the
reliability, high performance and scalability Oracle Spatial Data option
brings to enable enterprise-wide spatial processing on NT. Preetha
Pulusani, executive product director for Intergraph's Mapping and GIS
software, notes, "Oracle Spatial Data option on NT is great news for
Intergraph. Intergraph is the leading supplier of spatial applications on
the NT platform. We have hundreds of thousands of users in the utilities,
government and telecommunications market. Together with Oracle, our partner
for supplying spatial database technology to the enterprise, we can now
deliver mission critical geospatial asset and land management solutions on
NT."

Yoav Etiel, senior vice president of marketing at Bentley Systems,
Incorporated, adds, "We've recently announced our ModelServer Continuum
product on NT using Oracle Spatial Data option. Our engineering customers
are among the most demanding in the world when it comes to high
performance, accurate, reliable spatial information. The combination of
Continuum and Oracle's server-based technology now brings these high
standards to the Windows NT platform."

Dan Lemkow, director of Product Management for MCI's SHL VISION* Solutions,
notes, "Oracle Spatial Data option on NT represents an exciting
breakthrough for VISION* and our customers. Managing all data exclusively
in Oracle, our customers have been operating the world's largest, most
integrated automated mapping and facilities management GIS systems.
Together with Oracle Spatial Data option, we are eager to extend this
leadership to the NT platform."

The latest release of Spatial Data option allows customers and third-party
application providers to extend the practice of barrier-free shared spatial
information using traditional Oracle tools. Because Oracle Spatial Data
option is developed within the core Oracle database, standard development
products such as Oracle's Developer/2000 and database administration
facilities like SQL*loader may be used seamlessly with this technology.
With Oracle Spatial Data option, operations that have long invested in
building geographic information systems may now use Oracle(R) Universal
Server to integrate these geographic systems with business systems such as
customer information and marketing systems. The availability of Spatial
Data option on the NT platform enables the integration of these GIS and MIS
applications, regardless of platform.

"With the growing popularity of Windows NT, particularly within our
application partner community, we recognized the need to bring this level
of data management to the Windows NT platform," comments Steiner. Many of
the world's leading GIS and spatial application developers including
Advanced Visual Systems, Bentley, ESRI, Formida, Intergraph, MapInfo, MCI's
SHL Vision Solutions, Sedona GeoServices Inc., SmallWorld and TIMC Ltd.
support Oracle Spatial Data option.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif., May 20 /PRNewswire/ via Individual Inc. -- Oracle
Corp. (Nasdaq: ORCL) today released a new version of its Web Agent(TM)
software that enables its Express server to support more On-Line Analytical
Processing (OLAP) users simultaneously with tight security and improved
performance. Fully integrated into OLAP Express server, Web Agent 1.1(TM)
includes a scalable cartridge interface that supports more users through
the Internet and corporate intranets without sacrificing performance, and a
new authentication feature to help keep data safe from unauthorized access.

Web Agent 1.1 enables more enterprise-wide users -- from field sales
representatives and product managers to analysts and senior managers -- to
easily perform ad hoc analysis and forecasts to help them find patterns and
trends in their corporate data so they can make better business decisions.

Web Agent 1.1 also includes enhanced graphics features to make it easier to
analyze Express information in different formats. Users can create dynamic
3-D views of information from either the Express multidimensional server or
from Oracle's relational databases. To further enhance viewing and analysis
capabilities, Web Agent 1.1 supports third-party add-in components and can
export data to spreadsheets and other applications to conduct further
analysis and reporting.

"While the Internet is a cost-effective alternative to deploying
applications to enterprise-wide users, it inevitably brings with it
performance and security issues. Web Agent 1.1 addresses them by providing
a secure environment where more people can access Express server regardless
of where they are located," said Dave Menninger, senior director of product
marketing for Express technology, Oracle.

Trade Compass, a subsidiary of Horizon Trading Company, uses the Oracle
Express Server to power its World Trade Analyzer Web site
(www.tradecompass.com/trade_analyzer), where users can analyze 500
megabytes of trade data on 1,200 products from 160 countries. Trade Compass
Webmaster John Fontaine said Web Agent 1.1's better graphics improves data
analysis for end users by turning hard-to-comprehend tables of numbers into
interactive charts and maps that they can manipulate over the Web. "End
users are going to be able to do much more sophisticated data analysis much
easily with Web Agent 1.1," Fontaine said.

Web Agent 1.1's scalability and security support Trade Compass' efforts to
make World Trade Analyzer a fee-for-service operation.

Tight Security in a Scalable Architecture

Web Agent 1.1's new cartridge interface transfers information faster than
the traditional common gateway interface (CGI) that competitive products
employ, providing companies with a more scalable infrastructure for their
Web applications. The interface cartridge plugs into Oracle's Web Request
Broker to provide a high speed interface to the Express server and to
enable more users to log on simultaneously.

Web Agent 1.1 also includes a new user authentication feature that
automatically authenticates each user before connecting them to the Express
server, and uses "cookie" technology to identify users throughout their
session. Combined with Express' support for the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL),
which encrypts information between a users' Web browser and the Web server,
Web Agent's new authentication feature ensures only authorized users can
access a company's information over the Internet and corporate intranets.

Enhanced Viewing Capabilities

To make OLAP analysis more dynamic, Web Agent 1.1 now provides users with
graphical views of their data by supporting Virtual Reality Markup Language
(VRML). Web Agent 1.1 supports third-party Java and ActiveX components to
provide functionality such as advanced mapping technology, that can be
plugged into the agent.

Pricing and Availability

Web Agent 1.1 is available immediately with Express Server 6.0, which is
priced at $3,995 per concurrent user in the U.S.

Oracle Corporation is the world's leading supplier of software for

products, providing customers with greater choice, specialized tools,
Oracle-optimized products and streamlined support as they build data
warehouses.

The new WTI member companies and products include: Comshare (Commander
Decision); SPSS Inc. (SPSS for Windows); Thinking Machines (Darwin);
Virtual Integration Technology (deliveryManager); and Saxe, Inc. (Empower
Marketing Software).

New WTI partner Comshare, a top 50 independent software vendor, develops
complete planning, analysis and operating applications that allow managers
across the enterprise easy access to business information to improve their
productivity and competitiveness.

"The agreement between Comshare and Oracle reflects the natural fit between
Comshare's strength in decision support applications and the vast amounts
of data residing in Oracle platforms," said Steve Tonissen, senior vice
president of marketing, Comshare. "We're enthusiastic about the flexibility
this agreement gives us to further meet our customers' business analysis
needs. We've already released Commander Decision on Oracle's Express 6.0,
and we expect to release additional applications on the Oracle7 database,
as well."

SPSS, another new WTI member, provides customers with complete statistical
analysis and data mining tools that enable companies to delve into the
meaning behind their corporate information.

"The alliance between SPSS and Oracle will provide customers with a more
comprehensive warehouse solution. Key to a company's return on investment
with data warehouses is the ability to analyze the information they store
in the warehouse. SPSS' data mining tools will provide customers with a
powerful way to analyze their data, helping them gain the greatest benefit
from their warehouse," said Doug Dow, vice president of business
development at SPSS.

In addition to the five new WTI partners, Computer Sciences Corp. has
joined the WTI Implementor Program, which helps Oracle warehouse customers
design and implement enterprise-wide data warehousing systems. Designed to
build relationships between Oracle and leading data warehousing
implementors, the program provides a forum for discussing Oracle product
directions and lets WTI Implementors work directly with Oracle development
and consulting teams.

"WTI enables Oracle to build key relationships with the top data
warehousing product vendors which adds value to the Oracle Warehouse
offering. WTI helps ensure that the customers we share with our partners
receive the best data warehouse products and design and implementation
services to address their specific needs," said Neil Mendelson, senior
director of data warehousing at Oracle.

WTI builds relationships between Oracle and leading data warehousing
product vendors. The program creates a forum for disclosing Oracle product
directions and for tools providers to express specific product needs. WTI
also provides opportunities for vendors to work directly with Oracle
development teams. Specific benefits include: early technical information
about Oracle product direction and development; access to pre-release
software and documentation for new database and network releases;
participation in advanced technical workshops and early training on new
technologies; greater access to the Oracle user base via targeted
promotional opportunities at Oracle user and sales events and through
Oracle's sales and consulting staff; inclusion in appropriate Oracle
marketing collateral, Oracle publications and the Oracle World Wide Web
server (http://www.oracle.com/).
