Business Objects Ships BusinessMiner; First Data Mining Tool Aimed at --
and Accessible to -- the Mainstream Business User

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Date: Wednesday, February 5, 1997
Source: Business Wire
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE) via Individual Inc. -- Business Objects
(NASDAQ:BOBJY), the world's leading provider of integrated query,
reporting, and online analytical processing (OLAP) tools, today announced
that it has begun shipping BusinessMiner, the first data mining tool aimed
at -- and accessible to -- the mainstream business user.

BusinessMiner is a powerful desktop data mining tool that helps
non-technical business users automatically find previously undetected
relationships in their business data.

"With BusinessMiner, Business Objects is continuing to expand the range of
functionality that they offer to their users," said Herb Edelstein,
president of Two Crows Corporation, a leading data mining consulting firm.
"As one of the leaders in end user query and reporting, Business Objects
has been carrying out a systematic expansion of its target market - first
into OLAP with BusinessObjects 4.0 and now into data mining with
BusinessMiner. Business Objects clearly has a vision of this market, and a
plan for executing it."

"Our clients in a variety of industries -- insurance, telecom, healthcare,
and financial -- are seeing the need for extended analysis capabilities
such as data mining," said Steve Miller, Senior Director, Braun Technology
Group. "BusinessMiner offers the mainstream business user an easy to use,
solid, scaleable solution that is fully integrated with BusinessObjects
4.0. BusinessMiner will play a major role in our consulting practice."

Based on intuitive decision tree technology, BusinessMiner provides
easy-to-understand hierarchies that graphically depict relationships in
data. With its easy-to-use interface, anyone who understands percents and
flowcharts can easily understand the information that BusinessMiner tells
them about their data. BusinessMiner provides this ease of use without
sacrifices in functionality - the product provides all classical data
mining functions including modeling, discovery, visualization, what-if, and
segmentation.

"We are very proud to be the first decision support company to ship a
desktop data mining tool," said Dave Kellogg, vice president of corporate
marketing at Business Objects. "With BusinessObjects 4.0 we delivered
integrated query, reporting, and analysis to our customers. Now with
BusinessMiner, users can go further into their analysis to find hidden
relationships in their data - and at a fraction of the cost of high-end
data mining solutions."

Pricing and Availability

Priced at $495 when purchased with BusinessObjects, and at $995 when
purchased as standalone, BusinessMiner is the first data mining solution to
break the $500 price point. BusinessMiner is available now on all Windows
platforms, including Windows 95, Windows NT and Windows 3.1 via Win32S.
BusinessMiner has been developed with Alice technology from ISoft SA.

About Business Objects

Business Objects (NASDAQ:BOBJY) is the world's leading supplier of
integrated query, reporting, and OLAP tools. The company's award-winning
product, BusinessObjects, provides mainstream business users with access to
information stored in corporate databases, data warehouses, and packaged
applications. The company pioneered the market for business-intelligent
decision support tools in 1990 by introducing the first product to use a
"semantic layer." This patented technology maps complex database schemas to
a business representation understandable by non-technical end users.

BusinessObjects won the Oracle Technical Journal Best Product Award in
1996, and was named to the prestigious Crossroads A-List from Open Systems
Advisors in 1997. In addition, Business Objects outsold its nearest query
and reporting tools competitor two-to-one according to IDC's 1996
Information Access Tools Report. Business Objects products are in use at
over 3,600 organizations in over 60 countries, and the company has sold
more than 400,000 licenses worldwide. More information on Business Objects

Business Objects Announces Support for IBM DB2 OLAP Server; Initiative
Leverages Business Objects' Strong Partnership with OLAP Server Leader
Arbor Software and IBM

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Date: Tuesday, February 25, 1997
Source: Business Wire
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

ORLANDO, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE) via Individual Inc. -- Business Objects
(NASDAQ:BOBJY), the world's leading provider of integrated query,
reporting, and online analytical processing (OLAP) tools, today announced
its intent to support the IBM DB2 OLAP server, the product resulting from
the partnership and joint development work between Arbor Software
(NASDAQ:ARSW) and IBM.

Business Objects will support data access to IBM DB2 OLAP server from its
flagship product, BusinessObjects, the market's leading integrated query,
reporting, and OLAP tool. BusinessObjects will be able to access data
stored in IBM DB2 OLAP server and integrate it with a wide range of other
data sources, including:

-- Major relational databases such as DB2, Oracle, Informix,

Sybase, SQL Server, Red Brick, and others.

-- Personal data sources such as Excel spreadsheets, dBase, and

flat files.

-- OLAP servers including Arbor's Essbase and others.

-- Packaged application APIs (when available), such as SAP's

business API (BAPI).

Business Objects will participate in the beta program for IBM DB2 OLAP
server, scheduled for April of this year, and will support the final
product shortly after its planned general availability later this year.

Business Objects is a long-term partner of both Arbor and IBM. The
interface between BusinessObjects and Arbor Essbase is currently in beta
testing. BusinessObjects has supported the DB2 family of products for
several years.

"This joint development project between Arbor Software and IBM is a win-win
for all involved," said Bernard Liautaud, president and CEO of Business
Objects. "Business Objects has strong partnerships with both companies.
With IBM DB2 OLAP server, our customers will be able to realize the
benefits of using BusinessObjects with this new technology for enterprise
deployments. And, because IBM's DB2 OLAP server is compatible with Arbor's
Essbase, we will be able to automatically leverage the development work
we've already done."

"We're really excited that Business Objects is supporting our partnership
with IBM through their leading integrated query, reporting and OLAP tools,"
said Jim Dorrian, chairman and CEO of Arbor Software. "The work that
Business Objects has already done to support the Essbase API will be widely
leveraged through both Arbor Essbase and the IBM OLAP server."

"We are really pleased that Business Objects is endorsing our partnership
with Arbor Software to enter the OLAP market using Arbor's Essbase OLAP
engine," said Steve Selbst, manager of Business Intelligence Solutions
Development at IBM. "Customers will now be able to utilize Business
Objects' leading end user decision support tool with IBM's leading
database, IBM DB2 OLAP server, incorporating the cutting-edge OLAP engine
from Arbor. This is a win-win for everyone."

About IBM DB2 OLAP Server

Arbor and IBM are jointly developing the IBM DB2 OLAP server, an
enterprise-scale analytical processing software designed for a wide range
of multidimensional reporting and analysis applications. The IBM DB2 OLAP
server is based on technology utilized in Arbor Essbase. Specifically, the
IBM DB2 OLAP server replaces the integrated multidimensional data store in
Arbor Essbase with a relational storage interface. The relational storage
interface enables the IBM DB2 OLAP server to store data directly in IBM DB2
and other relational databases.

Business Objects Expands Open Data Mining Initiative; Announces New Partner
IVEE; BusinessObjects 4.0 to Integrate IVEE's Spotfire to Deliver Visual
Data Mining Solution

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Date: Tuesday, April 15, 1997

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE) via Individual Inc. -- Business Objects
(NASDAQ: BOBJY), the leading provider of integrated enterprise decision
support tools, today announced that visual data mining company IVEE has
joined its Open Data Mining Initiative, a comprehensive data mining partner
program that enables customers to use a wide range of advanced data mining
techniques in conjunction with BusinessObjects 4.0.

The partnership with IVEE will integrate BusinessObjects 4.0, the leading
integrated query, reporting, and OLAP tool with IVEE's visual data mining
tools, including Spotfire for Windows. Users will be able to launch the
Spotfire tool from within BusinessObjects 4.0, via a one-button
integration. This integration is available now at no charge from IVEE.

Spotfire allows users to perform visual data mining through highly
interactive graphics with strong applications in marketing, finance, and
R&D. Spotfire offers interactive data visualization capabilities on the
desktop and is aimed at mainstream business users.

The Business Objects Open Data Mining Initiative (ODMI) was formed by
Business Objects in the spring of 1996 to provide customers with a
comprehensive group of data mining products to use in conjunction with
BusinessObjects, the company's flagship enterprise decision support tool.
The continued expansion of the Open Data Mining Initiative by adding
partners like IVEE enables Business Objects customers to choose from a wide
range of data mining solutions. In addition to the ODMI, Business Objects
offers its own data mining product, BusinessMiner, a personal data mining
tool based on decision tree technology and aimed at mainstream business
users.

"We are pleased to be partnering with IVEE to offer our customers the
ability to connect to a leading data visualization tool such as Spotfire,"
said Dave Kellogg, vice president of worldwide marketing at Business
Objects. "With the continued addition of open data mining initiative
partners, Business Objects is offering its customers not only an
easy-to-use mainstream solution through BusinessMiner, but also the widest
range of complementary data mining solutions, bar none."

"Both new and existing BusinessObjects users will benefit greatly from this
partnership," said Christopher Ahlberg, president of IVEE. "By combining
our two products, we are offering an integrated and comprehensive OLAP and
data mining solution. This enables customers to triangulate in on problems
and makes for a much more efficient decision making process."

QuickStart DataMart(TM) program. This new agreement not only allows Sybase
representatives to sell additional licenses for the QuickStart DataMart,
but allows them to resell BusinessObjects for any project.

Bernard Liautaud, president and CEO at Business Objects. "We've had a long
and successful marketing partnership with Sybase, and are happy that they
decided to extend that relationship to the resale of our products. We plan
on continuing to deliver integrated, enterprise decision support solutions
